Sig P232, because life is too short to live with an ugly gun.

yes, there are 9mm guns of the same size, some slightly smaller. yes there are other 380s of similar size and design. but there is only one sexy as sin P232. and not just sexy, but very accurate and fully functional.

while I really like my Glock 42, it is the ugly sister compared to the Sig Sauer P232.

in .380 acp I've owned Walther, Bersa, Glock, Colt, AMT, Seecamp, Grendel, P3AT, LCP, maybe another I forgot..... but none are as cool/sexy/stylish as the Sig P232.

what say you?

If you want a pretty gun . . .

Let's be clear. There is a difference between a good looking gun and a pretty gun and a classy gun. If you look at all the different varieties of the Sig P238 you will find some of each. Wish I had the $$ to collect them all.

Yeah the 230-232 series are indeed sleek, good looking pistols. Hard to believe the same outfit that sells the very business like, nordic like P series like the 226 and 220, came out with something as attractive as those .380's.

The P230 family was authorized as a second/backup gun for my agency. There was a separate qualification course for them, and perscribed approved loads. All I had contact with or observed were reliable. Those .380's, are accurate too, at least I was always surprised by how well I shot them, as did others also.

They are an absolute booger to armorer strip and reassemble however.

I have a very lightly fired 232, I bought new years ago. It was made in Germany before the New Hampshire plant was producing them. It really is cool with it's sleek line, blue / parkerized finish. It's actually stamped "9mm Kurz" on the slide instead of .380. and the bottom mag eject lever is very European. I like mine a lot. Night sites on it still work fine too after all these years.

I owned a P220 made in Europe somewhere. Best 45 I ever owned no malfunction ever. I don't discount guns made elsewhere. But gotta support the USA! update - My new 1991 has also never malfunctioned, but only 200 plus through it. Its my baby.

Beautiful pistols, no doubt of that. Sig offered several finishes, two different triggers, two calibers available, (.32acp), and several different grips. If you can't find one you like... ;)

One of my favorite models.

The Beretta 81 series is another favorite .380. Two gems in the gunmakers crown of high achievement. Love these guns! :o

I love my P232. There are a lot of logical points against it - for its size it shoots the .380 rather than the 9MM and recoil for a .380 is excessive (in comparison to other firearms).

Still it has a spot in my safe and is on a very short list of guns that I see as "generational" in that I will be proud to hand it down someday.

Blowback .380s categorically have snappy recoil and opinions about this are subjective.

It's true that the pistol is fairly large; it's comparable to a Walther PP, to such a degree that I strongly suspect SIG patterned it after that pistol, although I don't think they've ever admitted as much. IMHO the SIG is superior to the PP as a carry pistol because the PP family depends on an inertial firing pin in DA/off-safe mode; the P230/232 has a firing-pin block, so it's more drop-safe when carried this way, AND the shooter doesn't have to worry about disengaging the safety. The SIG is also lighter if we're discussing the blued or two-tone alloy-frame versions. It is, however, physically larger than a PPK or PPK/S (not to mention a S&W Shield or Ruger LC9s).

My p232 is my carry gun. And, by far, it's my favorite .380. In fact, it's now my only .380. I carried a HK p7 for a long time, but moved to the p232 because I'm much more accurate with it. I could never warm to the Beretta 84FS and the Browning BDA. Disposed of them recently.

We kept them in our cars, but decided to replace them with a Sphinz SDP, a SIG p239 and a HK p30sk. They all get regular range outings.

PSP, I love that .32acp P230. in fact its what I preferred for my wife and daughter to use.... the .380 version is not to their liking.

I have always wanted a 230/232 as well, I have three .380s and I doubt I would ever buy another unless it is one of these fine Sigs.

I like the looks and reliability of my P232 also, but I must say that I enjoy shooting it less than my other .380s because it is a snappy little fella. Much more comfortable to shoot my other Sig .380, a P238. The design difference makes for a much more enjoyable shooter. But I would rely on either as an acceptable carry piece.

Awesome pics my friend.

Very handsome, could almost mistake it for a Beretta!
The P230/232 are actually a spitting image of the little-known .32 ACP Beretta 90. Also discussed here.

The Beretta 90 sold poorly in the USA, which is generally attributed to the lack of a .380 ACP version, which was never offered for reasons seemingly known only to Beretta management. It has been speculated that the alloy frame couldn't take the punishment, or that the Rome pistol production line—AFAIK only ever utilized for this model—was vexed by various problems. The pistol was rendered redundant in the mid 1970s by the Series 81 and discontinued soon afterwards.
