Do any preban standard capacity mags (I refuse to call them hicap) exist for the sig p229. My roommate just bought one today, against my advice (due to possible lack of preban mags) - I told him to get the 228, but he just had to have the .40....

To the best of my knowledge, pre-ban mags that fit the P-239 do not exist. The gun is a single-stack designed and introduced AFTER the mag ban was established.

There are 10-round mags avaialble for the 9mm version; I don't know about the .40/.357 SIG version. These mags extend beyond the grip frame.

Pssst! Walt, he said 229... ;)

Mec-Gar 15-rd flush-fit P-228 mags will probably take 11 rounds of .40

Yes, there are prebans, but they are not cheap (a little more than 228 mags). CDNN sells them, but they are out of stock right now.

I think you can find hi-caps for the 229. Seems like they go for over $100.00 each. Hold 13 rounds.

Lotta bucks for three extra rounds.

Sure the magazines are 12rds they sell between $80-$120 depending on where you buy them. I have a few of them but I mainly use the 10rd mags at the range. I think for the nominal increase +2 I would rather have 2 factory 10rd. G.R.

I second Glock Raider. The P229 STANDARD caps are advertised at 12 rnds. Although I can squeeze 13 into them, they don't feed reliably when I do it. I bought mine for $75, and typically see them for between $80 - 100. Try the sigforum.com classifieds.
