These ARE great. It's just about all that I shoot now. Wonderful balance, beautiful accuracy. I love mine. Take it if you can.

a very excellent gun. i have one with the all-nickel finish. great grip, feel, pointability, and balance. mags are $$$ though. if i had to carry a gun around, it'd be a P228.

Superb pistol. The only pistol that has never once given me a single problems. Ammo that failed to work the slide on a Glock 19 and jammed a SW6906 functioned 100% in a P228.

If you're buying NIB be advised that there are two versions of the P228 on the market now. One is made and assembled in Germany while the other is made in Germany but assembled in the US. You can easily tell which are the German made and assembled by the proof marks on the bottom of the slide's dust cover. BTW I don't think this matters unless you're a collector.

If you're buying used don't get taken in by the hype. Some shops will try to charge you an arm and a leg for a used pistol. Shop around.

Preban mags are expensive as they are for other most pistols like Glocks and HKs. Postban factory mags run $35 or you can get MecGars, which are just as good, for $15.

So many pistols, so little money.

EXCELLENT handgun. bought mine in early 1991 and it hasn't hiccuped once. the only thing i can fault on it is the finsh tends to wear quicker than other brands...but it shoots reliably, accurately and is one of the best feeling handguns out there.
