I received this Monday and went to range to try it out. I wasn't gonna post anything, but after two days, I can't stop thinking about it and felt compelled to share my limited experience with it. If anyone is on the fence about which 45 home defense/go-to-war gun to purchase, I'd highly recommend this one.
This is essentially the 226 in .45. This tactical has a threaded barrel, raised Night sites, and 10&14 rd mags. There is also a non-threaded version with regular height sites available, which would be great if no plans for suppressor I'm sure. Sig could have done better in making the 14rd mag sleeve conform to grip contour for looks, but that's just my pickiness probably...
I own the MK25 and have really enjoyed it, but this big caliber bro might be my new fav handgun. Time will tell after honeymoon I guess. I've fired most of the .45 players, from 1911's to the polymers, including glock which is at my bedside. All of them have some type of felt recoil but still fun to shoot.
This P227; however, is not like that, recoil-wise. I couldn't really feel much of anything. It felt as if I was shooting a really soft 9mm out of it. Still baffling to me. It has a powerful push feel but no real felt recoil. Amazing to me.
I only put about 100rds through it but seemed very consistent, accuracy-wise. I was center-low on 7 ring of 6" round target most of the time w/tight groups. Maybe just me getting used to raised sites. I put several rds through same hole at 10yds, just still on lower ring and centered. I wasn't really concerned about accuracy at the time as I was so enthralled by its lack of recoil.
Just wanted to throw my two cents in for anyone considering making a purchase of this type. I was close to buying the fnx45 tactical but made a game time decision and went the Sig. For me, I have zero regrets.
