Sig P227 Carry

Picked up my new Sig P227 Carry today. Really love the size/feel of the gun. Very similar to my P229. Had to do some emergency surgery when I first got it home though. Installed the SRT kit, 19lb Wolff hammer spring, and Gray Guns P-SPIT trigger. Now it's just about perfect. I have the Hogue G10 grips on order from the tacops version. They are long to give the extended mag well for the 14rd magazines, but being G10, they can be cut down to standard size easily. And I got 20% off on them for registering the warranty on my P320 so I got them for under $100 delivered! Will post some updates after those come in.

I bought the new Sig P227 it's just like Sig built it.
Guess you felt it needed at lot of Gray Guns re Engineering, sure Mr.Gray is happy.
Happy shooting.:)

I absolutely abhor the thin short-reach trigger.

I used to replace them with the standard(thick) Sig trigger. which is like $40. Gray Guns P-SPIT trigger has a built-in over-travel stop as well as a more rounded and ergonomic trigger face. And it's only $10 more, so yes, I'm happy to buy that from Gray Guns.

The SRT kit should be standard. It's a Sig factory part. It's not on the 227, so yes, I drop that in as well. And the 19lb hammer spring from Wolff makes the trigger that much smoother.

Not sure what you consider "at lot of Gray Guns re Engineering" at a single $50 part. lol

Hello Sig Sauer Engineering did you read what "Uncle Malice" is saying? Hello Sig!! Hello Sig!! Hello Sig!! Hmmmmm guess there not up yet today.

Uncle Malice has offered a lot of wonderful reviews which I always enjoy reading along with details of his personal tweaks. I’m not sure about the Split Trigger, but I know the SRT is a very desirable upgrade. I do agree that some of the modifications/upgrades offered by various aftermarket manufactures may offer only incremental improvements. However, I’m not sure why that warrants turning the review of a new gun into an attack on one of these manufactures.

To the topic at hand the P227 seems like the best combination of two guns I really like the P220 & P229, so I am interested in checking one out. I would love to see some photos comparing the two.

As for the issues related to Grayguns maybe a new thread specific to that topic would be more appropriate. However, I hope it would include specific issues and not some vague personal vendetta.

Thanks Barry and Cyanide!

Strafer, the carry model has a shortened barrel and slide like the P220 carry. They do make a P227 SAS model that comes in the Carry size with the full SAS treatment. The Carry model that I have does not have the SAS treatment. The frame size is the same, so it does not make a new model number as in the P226 and P229.

You're welcome, Uncle! Here's my first ever venture into the world of Sig. Looks similar to yours, with a difference here & there haha....

Congratulations, Uncle Malice! That's a great looking rock behind that gun. :p

Seriously, though, let us know how she shoots.

Cyanide, that one's a looker, too!

Thanks Spats! On both accounts. ;)

Good find Cyanide. I love Hogue's G10 grips. I have the 229 Extreme with the grey mascus pattern grips. Such a good shooter. Looks like you have the DAK model. I had the P220 Compact SAS in DAK a few years back. Great little shooter. Only sold it because the grips was just a bit too short.

I carry a Model 227 in its stock form, comfortably and well-concealed in a Galco "King Tuk" iwb holster. I'm sure you will like your new pistol, Uncle Malice.

Spats and Uncle Malice, thank you! Mine was a police trade-in with 3 mags & N.S. but also something I gotta disable asap; dad gum mag disconnect safety!

Now to get my 2nd Gen P250 Compact off layaway so I can enjoy it as well. And if I don't watch it, Mystro's gonna convince me to get one of those P320's as well hahahahahaha.... [emoji16]

Cyanide, thanks for posting that last pic! I may have a quirky sense of humor, but I find it REALLY a funny that you have a gun from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of NJ! I would love to be able to tell friends, "Here. Try this. It's my NJ Dentist School Gun." :D

[emoji35] well, looks like there is an extenuating circumstance that has arisen on the home front that is forcing my hand into having to sell my Sig, as well as a couple of other pistols. Looks like I will just have to start saving to pick up another DAK down the road. At least the pair of P250's will help ease the pain of my future loss.......I HOPE!

Cat is out of bag for sure

The 250 mags are working just fine in my 320. You must have more resistance to Uncle Malice's wiles. I succumbed last week. It's pretty awesome. 2 mags, holster, full size medium frame, night sights, and no pesky trigger tab. Oh, the 227 is full size as well. I'm stuck in the duty size pistol rut. Mystro did a pretty good sales pitch as well. I dang near bought the compact, but it didn't have night sights.
