Sig P226 Navy

So, a family member of mine works in a pawn shop and they just got in a (what looks to me) like a nearly new Sig P226 Navy. He said he'd give me the family price of $600. If I pass it up he said he'll throw a price tag of $850 on it. A quick Gunbroker search tells me they are going for around $970-$1,120 NIB right now.

It looks to be in very good shape and comes with Sig hard case. I think its an awsome deal but frankly I don't know a lot about them and perhaps more importantly its not what I'm looking for right now. Still...

My question to you guys is "Is this too good a deal to pass up?"

For $600 I think it's a good deal. But I think $850 for it on Gunbroker might be a stretch (or at least take some time) unless it was one of the ones that was marked NSW and comes with the certificate, simply because those have some collector value https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=509798 https://www.google.com/search?q=p226+navy+certificate&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjBnNWKw-jUAhXEOD4KHfktD60Q_AUICigB&biw=1680&bih=960#imgrc=Yzo867mj0v81jM:. As for people asking for $970-$1120, again is it one of the 2000 from that limited run or just one of the SIGs that has an anchor on the slide? People ask for all sorts of prices on Gunbroker. It doesn't mean they get them.

The Mk25s have phosphated internals for corrosion resistance in saltwater environments.

For $600, you're doing pretty well. There was just a batch of these that went through AIM Surplus for $550 that I had to pass on, and have been kicking myself since.

I'd grab it if you have actual interest in it.

Yea assuming good condition and you want the pistol I think it's a decent deal. The ability to actually inspect it in person is nice.

I agree with Pat on this one. I can't find any Navy models for under about $750. If you want a corrosion resistant carry gun you don't want to worry about sweat corrosion then its a great deal. Very reliable proven design. I would take it in a heartbeat.

It's just a P226 with an engraved anchor.....

That's a good thing.

The P226 is one of the finest 9mm handguns ever made.

Some Navy P226's sold commercially did not have the parkerized internals. Early ones were steel slides, later stainless.

I picked a well worn generic Sig P226 for $350.

A new condition Navy for $600 is a decent price.

There was a period of time where SIG sort of mix and matched parts and some users said their Navy models didn't have all the phosphated internals. The Mk25 seems more standardized in that regard.

I've owned a dozen SIGs and honestly I never needed the phosphate coated internals or controls, but there are some users, including Constantine on here, who live in areas where the air is saltier and have had some rust issues. SIG makes, or at least used to, a Mk25 parts kit you could buy that had those coated parts if you wanted to add them to your pistol.

Any new P226 for $600 is a very good deal.

But if you want the current NSW standard pistol, just go buy a run-of-the-mill Gen3 Glock 19 and install Glock night sights. You'll be at about $550 all in. ;)
