Sig p226 legion vs. Sphinx sdp?

Hi
I've been torn between these two guns for a while I was originally considering the sp-01 but due to the fact that I can't find any online or locally I've given up on them. Also I heard there were some issues with the finish on them or something of that sort. I have fairly small hands so the Sig p226 is quite large in my hands and feels weird. That being said I pulled the trigger on it and it was really amazing. The Sphinx on the other hand I've been looking at and it really seems quite nice. I feel this would fit better in my hand but I haven't gotten to touch one yet but I have gripped other cz's and it feels better than the Sig. The thing about this gun is that really little aftermarket as of right now hopefully this changes. I really can't decide right now but I'm going to get both. Can anyone speak on the Sphinx I've only head good things about it so far.

Can't speak to the Sphynx, but you're right on about the CZs. They're great guns. I wouldn't give up trying to find one. They're all over Gunbroker and GunsAmerica. If you can get a P01, do it!!

I haven't checked recently, but the last time I looked at their Site, the Sphinz was available as a compact. I wanted a full size (whatever that is), but settled for the Compact ALPHA. Can't say enough good about it. It's great! So good, that I'll buy a regular/full size when/if I find one. The only nit for me to pick is the trigger pull. I target shoot and like light, light triggers. I'd guess my Sphinz needs about 5 pounds, maybe slightly less. But, it is smooth with a clean release. I really need to buy a trigger pull gage.

Can't compare the Sphinz to the SIG Legend (never shot, nor handled one); however, I own at least six SIG's, from the X-5 L1, X-6 L1 to the US made 1911's in .45ACP. The Sphinz shouldn't be compared to the X-Series SIG's. The X-Series are three to four times as expensive; and, performance wise the X-Series rule. I'd judge the quality equal. Performance wise I find the Sphinz at least equal to the p232, p239 SAS and the 1911's. The quality is a bit better, except for p232 which is equal to the Sphinz.

As to CZ. I have the CZ75 Tactical Sport and the CZ75 SP-01 Shadow Target ll (CZ Custom). My CZ's definitely outshoot the Sphinz. But, that's expected; my CZ's are competition guns. Looking at the internals, they're almost identical triplets. I'd say it's a toss up between the Shadow and the Sphinz as to quality. But, I believe the Shadow is about twice as expensive as the Sphinz. A regular SP-01 is less expensive than the Sphinz.

The Shadow is a small gun; fits my small hands really well. The TS, the Sphinz and the X-Series guns all fit my hands about the the same. I think I wear a size 8 glove. 1911's are a natural fit for me.

I'm an affirmed CZ fan, but of the two, I would get the Legion for one simple reason: a much, much, much better ecosystem of parts/accessories/support. It's virtually nonexistant for the Sphinx.

Sigs are a bit bulky for small hands. I have medium sized hands, and can use a 226 well enough, and really like shooting them, but he DA pull is a bit of a reach. I do have to adjust my grip a bit, to a less than optimal angle, to make reaching the trigger easier in DA.

I here a lot of good about the Sphinx, but as another poster put it, parts availability is less.

CZs enter he country I'm spurts, keep looking. A local shop here has them in droves... It's actually the best CZ stocked store I have personally seen.

The SRT trigger on the Sig Legions make the gun, in my humble opinion. It is phenomenal. I never thought I'd find a pistol trigger as good as the HK LEM/Match hybrid until I shot my son's Sig. On that alone, get the Sig and never look back.

I had a Sphinx SDP Compact. It was one of the best fitted production guns I've owned. I still sold it. I found the DA was subpar even after a spring swap. I'd reach this point in the pull where it was like a non-round part rotating over, hard to describe but noticeable. My rear sight was noticeably drifted to one side from the factory and it took a heat gun, a lot of swearing, and even then I still dented the sight pusher and managed to strip the threads (Sphinx uses green loctite, a set screw, and opposing serrations under the sight, it's madness). Mine also had numerous failures to eject unless I shot right around +P ammo. Might have been a break in issue. Accuracy was excellent however and the recoil was almost non existent (easily the softest shooting 9mm I've owned even compared to all steel). Accessories as mentioned might as well be the holy grail. In a moment of stupidity I slipped the punch and managed to gouge the backstrap. Called Kriss and asked if I could buy a replacement. They had none. Said try later. Called a month later and they still had none and no idea when they might get any. The people at Kriss were nice but they can't make parts appear. The same was true when I asked about mags (folks here did find some alternatives if I remember correctly). There are still no night sight options I know of despite being out for a couple years now. Holsters can be found though. In the end it was a great product with no support. Were it me I'd go with the SIG.
