Sig P225A1 - I think I'll get one

I'm curious if anyone has recent bad news but I'm getting one because:

I have a G17, I figure a 225 will complement that, taking my daughter shooting once a month this summer. I' m a .4 guy but the girls like neither the .40 or .45.

The 225 is about the same size as a G16, ok for cc and I'd like to step up from a .380.

Not sure how an alloy framed hammer-fired DA/SA pistols complements a G17 but okay.

You say the girls don't like the 40SW or 45ACP. What is is about your G17 they don't like?

My wife has a P225A1. She loves it. Great size for her smallish hands. Gun is very accurate. It doesn't like weaker ammo such as Blazer Brass but is flawless with ammo like Magtech and Speer Lawman.

My Sig is a factory refurbished P6 (original 225) that i like to shoot a lot. In fact the pistol passes back and forth between me and my buddy because the single stack Sig is an easy, fun shooter. Since i have it once again i used it to finish off a couple of Texas boars that needed just a little more effort to die. The new 225 should be every bit the shooter my old one is, i believe some changes were made in the design but have not had the opportunity to compare or shoot the new version.

I own several 9mm SIGs and none of these are picky about the ammo I use, much less Blazer Brass which I would not consider "weak", and which always worked great in every gun I've owned.

Yet you haven't owned that person's pistol.

best thing Sig has done outside of the Legion series release

this model is dead on out of the box. it handles great. wish I had one in the legion series-- am adding THAT to "the LIST"

buy 1 or 2 or3....

I too have shot Blazer Brass in many of my 9 mm pistols with 100% reliability,, so much so i just sent a case of it to a friend as a thank you gift. My P 6 has consumed a bit of that ammo just last month.

I had an old W. German 225 that I liked quite a bit. Let it go to a friend and I do miss it (although there is a reason I sold all my Sigs).

I'd think about a new one if I had some cash laying around some day.

I have a SIG P6 which isn't a P225-A1 but it's pretty close and it shoots great with Blazer Brass!

I believe you. But what you own is not a new production SIG P225-A1 which while certainly similar in design may be sprung stiffer than your P6. Nor does your pistol having no issues with Blazer Brass mean labhound is mistaken. If you're just sharing your own data point fair enough, it just came across as if you were trying to invalidate his. Sorry if I read too much into it.

I think you have the impression that I am trying to invalidate the posters comment. My P6 has a relatively new recoil spring and mag springs. I am just stating my "opinion" that Blazer Brass works fine in my guns, works fine in my friends guns, and the ranges I frequent sell it to people to shoot in their guns and the range rental guns, since it is pretty good ammo, I think I've said enough about this subject!

I have no complaints with Blazer Brass either. It works fine in all my other 9mm's. I currently have a couple thousand rounds of it. It just doesn't cycle the slide well on the wife's NEW P225A1 and thus doesn't eject well YET. The gun has less than 1000 rounds through it and hasn't had any problem with stouter ammo. I suspect Blazer Brass will probably work okay in it once the springs and sliding parts wear in.

About the 225 A1

Picked one up a couple months ago and have 500 rounds through it now. No issues with freedom munitions reloads. Shoots better than I do and great comfort in the hand. I also shoot the 226 if I want capacity. The 225 A1 will make a nice CC for me.

Just feels great in the hand as a single stack.
