Sig P225

i got a Sig 225 about a week ago. i shot it yesterday and really like it. i need to practice a lot with it in DA since i'm used to glocks and wasn't shooting it all that accurately. i really like it though exept for one thing. on the left grip pannel below the magazine release there's a little bump in the grip. i'm left handed and the bump sticks into my hand making the grip not feel as good. i'm looking for aftermarket grips for it now but hogue, uncle mikes and pachmayr don't make grips for it. i'd like them to be rubber and at least as thin as the stock grips if not narrower. anyone know where i can get some rubber grips for my 225?

i have pretty small hands and don't want to increase the grip width at all. i've had a hogue handall on a glock before and it made the gun feel to wide.

The rubber aftermarket grips I've seen for other pistols all made the pistol wider, so even if you find some to fit your pistol I imagine they would be wider than stock.

How about modifying your stock grip to remove that "bump" you don't like?

I have some Pachmayer grips for the 225 and they make the gun wider. I don't think Hogue makes grips for it. I believe Sig sells some wood grips for the 225. They might be OK unless you have to have rubber.

i have rubber uncle mikes grips on a Beretta 92G Elite and S&W 669 and they don't make the grip noticably wider. i guess its ok if it makes the grip very slightly wider. i'm not set on rubber though. if there are aftermarket plastic or wood grips than anyone knows of that are thin and don't have the bump then i'm interested.

AZTrooper, i would assume that the wood grips Sig sells also have the bump since they are probably the same shape as the stock plastic ones.

Try Kesselring's ... 360 724 3113 ... I JUST (like 5 minutes ago) received mine from them and they were on sale Pachmayr Signatures for 16 bucks.
Good luck,
Bill

saands, thanks. i've seen the signature grips for a 225 before but i know they increase the width of the grip. do you know if they have any Pachmayr Sure-Grip pannels for the 225? the Sure-Grip Pannels look thinner.

I found the packmeyers on my 225 to be a little too thick for my small hands. The owner of a local indoor range told me to cut a piece of bicycle tube and roll it on. This doesn't add much thickness but makes the grip feel better. Try it, the most you will loose is the $2.50 for a tube if you don't already have one around. I did take some fine sandpaper and sand of the ridges of the tube for a smooth feel.
