Does anyone own one or have shot one. And how do they like it and how does it shoot. This will be my first SIg I just put this model on Layaway. Felt great in hand cant wait it pick it up..
The Sig 225 is one of the best, most well liked 9MM's in the Sig line. Its concealable yet still accurate, reliable, etc. Everything you want in a carry piece. I had to get one to round out my P7, P-5, Sig 225 collection as these were the German trial guns of the mid 70's in response to the terrorism at the '72 Olympics. It is actually similar to a 228 with a shorter barrel and single stack, 8 round mag. You will have no regrets.
Hands down my favorite 9 mm. Like most Sigs the double action is smooth as glass. The only complaint I've ever seen about the pistol has something do do with the magazine feed lips bending. Never happended to mine.
There's an article on them in this February's Gun World if you want to check out what Duane Thomas has to say about them--he recommended the P239 in 9 mm instead I believe.
There is suppose to be a special buy for direct stocking dealers at Shot Show on these guns. If you wait a few months, there should be a good supply of 225's and at an excellent price too.
the 225 is more closely related to the 228 (shorter barrel) than the 226, with the modern equavalent being the 239 (225 should be lighter due to the lighter slide)
the single stack 9mm feels substantualy thinner than the double stacks (even thinner than the single stack 220)
every one i've handled (we issue them to officers who find the 226/229 too big) has had a stiff but smooth trigger and has been very accurate.
I like my SIG Sauer P225 better than my P228! The P228 has its place, but the only thing the P228 has that the P225 doesn't is a few more rounds in its overpriced magazines.
I strongly recommend going over to the SigForum http://www.sigforum.com for further opinions.
THe 225 is practically a religion there ( deservedly so............have one myself). You will get many well-informed opinions there too.
