Sig P220 vs HK USP 45c...

I've had a HK USP 45c before...It was one of the most accurate guns I've ever owned...never even had any problems with it...I ended up trading it in on something else...what a mistake...Anyway...I've been thinking about getting another 45 & it's between these two guns...I guess a better comparison would be the full size USP but I kinda like the compact version better...I checked out the smaller Sig(P245) but it just doesnt feel as good in my hands as its larger brother the P220...I've never shot the P220 cause my local range doesnt have one to rent... I was just looking for any thoughts or comparisons on the two pistols...Thanks...

I own and shoot both...................

and find both to be terrific. Both have been accurate and reliable so to choose between them would be hard indeed. But, when push comes to shove I would opt for the Sig 220 simply because of how it feels in my hand. Purely personal choice. Good shooting.

I'd go with the P 220...

An admittedly biased post, but here'goes...
The H&K has a few advantages- the ability for c&l carry, tough polymer frame, notable HK accuracy. But the SIG P 220 is just such a gosh darn good pistol in so many respects that I simply must recommend it over the HK. The trigger on my 220, both DA ans SA, far, far surpasses that of any HK USP I've owned, handled or shot:cool: . The two most accurate handguns I own are a bread-and-butter S&W 686 and the SIG P 220, both capable of routine 1.5" groups at 25 yards off a bench in my palsied hands. The USPc is a fine gun to be sure, but to me it offers no meaningful reward over the SIG. The HK might be a bit more concealable, but not by much.
And, to be frank, women dig the SIG more than they do the HK...
I told you it'd be a biased post...

I also like the P220 trigger better. If you can, try them side by side (Dry-firing) and buy the one you like best.

I looked at the P220 and the USP45C before buying the HK. The Sig is a very nice gun and felt good in my hand. What sold me on the HK was the ability to carry cocked and locked, and it just felt very solid. I will probably end up getting a P220 someday as well.

I did not care for the P245.

HK all the way I have a Tactical .45 with Flash supressor and would not get rid of it for anything. And the USP's are great guns also...

Nuff said,

I will throw my Sig P220 in the ring, as well.
I've owned both; and like everyone else has
said, "both are excellent weapons". However,
I find that the Sig P220A .45ACP is a little
more accurate; right out of the box. :D

Hey I rented both of those guns the other day. I found the HK to be alot more "punchy" than the Sig. The Sig had less recoil and was more enjoyable to shoot.

I like the P220 better than the USP45 because it is flatter and easier for me to conceal.

From H&K's website: H&K compact .45--Width: 34 mm=1.34 inches

From SigArm's web site SIG 220--Width: 1.4 inches

Sig 220 vs. HK USP

I too reviewed these two along w/ the Glock 21 for an alternate to my 1911 Para Ord. I had already experienced difficulty making the transition from the 1911 to the glock and back so I opted to get the closest thing to simplify my life, the HK. I don't think the HK had as nice a trigger than the Sig. The HK had a higher bore axis than the Sig so it supports the Sig shooting softer than the HK. Other options that carried me to the HK was that it offered a 10 rd (12 optional) magazine which the Sig did not, it had a light rail that also supported a scope mount or laser and it did not require me to remember another manual of arms like the sig has. I ended up installing a match trigger on the USP which allowed it to be very versatile and shoot very nicely. I ended up selling it and trading up for a nice target model a little later. Now this HK is what I use for competition/IPSC and home defense. I have even carried it concealed although it is on the large size. I have no regrets getting the HK though I don't think you can go wrong with either model. I read somewhere that the Sig 220 will be offering a new higher capacity model for 45 ACP with additional features. This would be an interesting addition to the picture.
Good luck...

I just put a deposit on a brand new Two-Tone 220 with Siglites & a "LNIB" HK USP 40 Compact in Stainless...I've never shot a 220 but from what I hear from you guys & so many other people, they are all that & more...They had to order the 220 & it should be here in a couple of days...I'll definitely pick the 220 up first...They said the guy who owned the HK only put 1 box of ammo thru it...They were asking $579.00 for it...I guess that isnt too bad of a deal since a new one sells for $729.00 and HK just had another price increase...I'll let you guys know how the 220 shoots... :D

Shake - I said the P220 is flatter, not thinner. The HK slide is blocky, whereas the P220 slide has a slimmer contour. I think if you tried carrying both IWB the P220 would be your choice as well.

The HKs are nice pistols, I owned a USP compact. The gun was nice but it just didnt feel that great for Carry as well as long range sesions for me.

The slide of the USP used to dig into my skin due to all the sharp adges on the slide. The Sig has a nice rounded slide, very friendly to the skin. And for me the grip is just unbeatable, I have yet to find another pistol that feels as good in my hands.

Carrying cocked and locked has never been a big deal to me. I carry Glocks and Sigs with one in the tube and feel very comfortable doing so. But if C&L carry is a big deal to you than I guess the HK would be the only way to go.

Well, I sold my USP for a second P239 and some goodies. What made the decition for me is the fact that HKs customer service sucks big time, atleast in my experience. When I called Sig up for a new trigger spring, I started to tell them I was going to use a master card. They said dont worry about it just give me your address. It wasnt even a week and a package was at my door with 5 trigger springs and a package of stainless grip screws for the heck of it.

It was a small gesture bu tit sold me on Sig, they are a great company all around the board. Needless to say, my stock blued P220 is my pride and joy. If I want to look good at the range I just break her out and thats that.

Looks nice with Kingwood grips also, thats something you cant do with the HK:)

Both great guns though, Sig is just my preference.

Good luck!
