I should have been clearer in my initial post. I am in need of four factory SIG 8 rd. magazines for the P220. This is a duty weapon and policy requires that I carry only factory SIG magazines. Mecgars won't cut it - no matter whether they make them for SIG or not. I Have one, and need four more. Just was hoping to find a source cheaper than buying direct from SIG (they want $52.00 each). THanks for any help here.

Mec-Gar makes the magazines for Sig Arms.

Why would you want to spend $52 on a Mec-Gar magazine with a Sig Arms logo on it?

$14 for a Mec-Gar magazine without the Sig Arms logo is not only more logical, but more practical... especially on an officers pay.

Surely your dept. would understand that Mec-Gar makes Sig Arms magazines...

Saylerman,

When I carried a Sig P220, Sigarms gave me a 25% discount on the same magazines because I worked for a county sheriffs department. I had six. Back when I had one, those mags with the follower and base pad were $42 a piece minus $7 discount. I guess prices have really gone up.

You might try looking up a place called Texas state distributors. I got some of my factory Sig followers and base pads from them cheaper than what Sig was selling them for. Again these items were factory Sig parts. Sadly my contact with them is from several years ago. I don't know if they are on the Net or still in business.

That's the downside of owning Sigs and HK's. Their factory aftermarket accessories are very expensive, but worth it I think.

Thanks for the help and info.

dvc I'd like to be able to only buy and carry the MecGars, But department policy is Law. It's not really the department that would need to be educated, but in the event of a shooting, more like defense attorneys and juries. "This officer used 'non-standard' aftermarket gun parts gun parts to kill/maim/hurt my client"...

23inator I'll give SIG a call and see if they still offer that deal. Also, thanks for the info on TSD - I'd forgotten about them. I'll check it out.

Thanks all.

OK - I wasn't able to find Texas Stae Distributors anywhere. But - I did find a possible new place for me to spend money. Has anyone out there ever dealt with Silver Bullet (as in silverbullet.com, not like "thats my favorite beer dude")?

Hey how come they offer LEO hi-caps (Glocks) for only $21? They should sell you some non-hi cap for even cheaper. Can't you go through the department? Pretty sure they supply the department with replacement mags. I think. Good luck.

Hmm, the best places I've seen for lowest cost SIG P220 mags (with the original spot welded dove-tail seam [which is what I look for for factory SIG mags]) are at gun shows. ~$35-$50.

Ajaxgrips.com has them also. I bought my 8rd mags from them, I believe they were $44 a month or so ago.

Huh. well, went to the Parkersberg, WV gun show today (C&D). Saw one table selling mags as I walked in. Didn't see any P220 mags on the table but inquired anyway for pricing. Guy seemed above average in gun intelligence and was surprised at what he told me.

Apparently P220 (and other SIG mags) are starting to get scarce as SIG had recently dropped Mec-Gar for their factory mags. He had not been able to obtain any from the factory. Whether SIG will produce them in-house as before, he did not know. (Back to the dovetailed seams.)

Has anyone heard anything like this?

I can't really say that he was trying to push anything on me as he didn't have any 220 mags on hand. When talk got around to the P226 and the 20 round mag, he also mentioned that he had some FACTORY 30 rounders that were tried out but were not approved. Apparently ~250 were made, brought to the US, and were intended for a sub gun based on the P22X action which did not work out. News to me. Has anyone heard of this? (Can't find my Das grosse Buch)

Well, the search continues...

I spoke with Customer Service at SigArms this morning and they are backordered on 8rd mags. and no idea when they will be back in stock
