I'm seriously considering getting the Stainless with wood grips 220 elite in 10mm.

Why the Stainless? Cause it's amazing... Don't even get me started on holding it... Trigger is sooooooooo nice and smooth... Grips fit so nice and comfortable... It's like it was made for my hand... I can hardly put it down...

10mm? Cause I can. I've always been one to do things different because I can. Everyone has a 45 here in Wyoming, who has a 10?(someone does, one of the 10's has gone missing....)

My debate. the handgun manager told me that his sig rep told him they had a double stack model, WITH the decocker in the works, to be ready before 2017.

Should I wait for the double stack? Really what draws me is the decocker so I can carry one chambered easier. Why would I want/need a 10mm? No follow up shots. I'm sorry, but the minute I see deadly intent/refusal to obey commands he has lost his chance. No more playing around. 1 and he's gone. Not to be mean, or that guy that brags about his gun or the kid saying "he ain't gettin up!" but really, I do not want to give an assailant a second chance.

Now why double stack? For fun. Cause I can. Range trips will be so much more fun.

In all honesty I do not plan on using it as a personal defense arm, but if I have to I will.

Should I wait for the unicorn double stack? Or just get the single stack? The guy said (and I've looked in the mag well) sig wouldn't have to do much to fit a double stack. There's room. Be like other double stack large calibers and FLAUNT that big, thick, beautiful shape! Now a double stack 50 ae... Don't know if that would work...

How does the 220 stack up against the legion series? Others in the p series? I know the legion series is supposed to be the next step up, but i have yet to see if they have a 10.

Since Sig's current .45acp P227 is basically a "double stack" P220 DA/SA, it's not much of a stretch to envision one in 10mm, the two cartridges having roughly the same COAL.

But to take the pounding of real-deal 10mm ammo over time, the double-stack frame would have to be stainless steel, not aluminum. All four of Sig's 10mm (single stack) guns are built on SS frames.

None of the SAO 10mm models interests me, though, only the 2-tone DA/SA model with the fixed night sights. But good luck finding one.

That said, I wasn't impressed with Sig's decision to limit the mag capacity of their first entry into the 10mm market to 8-rds. Heck, S&W's old 10XX-series pistols all ran 9-rd mags, and Smith actually made 11-rd mags for FBI agents to use in their 1076s. That gave them an 11+1 10mm gun on a single-stack frame. Wilson's 10mm mags for my Delta Elite hold 9-rds. So yeah, in 10mm, you can easily get more than an 8-rd mag capacity on a single-stack build.

So my 2-cents worth of advice is: if Sig really is coming out with an all stainless 10mm variant of the P227, with a mag capacity in the range of, say, 12-15rds, then I'd hold off dropping $1200-$1300 of coin on one of their single-stack 10mms, and see what next year's model looks like.

So it's not hard to imagine they already have a double stack in the works? It's just Awful and just embarrassing that they don't

Cause that gun gives me a partial just looking at it

To me only having 8 rounds is the same as only lasting 10 seconds with a girl.

IMhO dial back the rhetoric.

Lots of anti-gun folk like to portray pro-gun folk as having a sexual connection with guns. Let’s NOT fuel that image.

Good luck with that.

Anyway, really my question. Wait for the possible double stack or just get the 220. Anyone here own one?

I was going to say, I thought the Stainless ones were all SAO.

All four Sig 10mm models are SS. Three are SAO with an adjustable rear sight and f.o. frt sight. One is the traditional DA/SA with fixed night sights.
