How Glock 19, Sig 228(9) and Browning HP, all in 9 mm, compare? Reliability, accuracy, capacity, durability?

All info will be appreciated

Thank you in advance

I have all three, for accuracy; I do best with the P228. For carrying, the G19 is best for protection from sweat and dirt plus very lite. But my favorite is the Browning HiPower; cause it fits my hand the best and is such a good looking gun.

I shoot better with my Glock and Browning than with my P228. For some reason though I shoot a lot better with the P226 than the P228. It all comes down to what fits your hand better and what safety features you like or don't like on a carry gun. With that in mind I carry my Glock most often, next the P226, the Browning is going in for some work before I decide if I want to carry it or not.

As far as reliability is concerned I have never had a problem with my G19 or the P226, I haven't fired the P228 enough to make a judgement yet and the BHP is a bit temperamental, but that's mostly due to the mags.

Go to a range that rents them all if that's possible for you to do and spend a little money and try them all out. Or, see if you have friends that have them and see if they'll let you borrow their pistols.

Greetings All, I own a Sig P228 and Browning
Hi-Power "Practical" model; along with a Sig
P226, all in 9m/m. Have owned a Glock 17 and
Beretta 92FS "Centurion" model. I do my best
work with one of the two Sig's; however there
is nothing wrong with the other choice's. :)
For CCWarry I probably would choose the G19;
due to the tennifer finish. :D In the humid
environment of Florida and/or Mississippi, that one aspect may prove to be your best
bet.!!!

You're looking at four very different operating systems. SA, SA/DA or DAO and Safe Action. Before making any decisions you need to choose the system that you like best.

What's the intended usage? Range, home defense or licensed carry?

I like DA/SA, and so for me the natural is the P228. SIG Sauers fit my hand best, balance like nothing else, and I'm much more accurate with them. I don't mind the extra weight and the extra care to prevent rust. In exchange I get superior accuracy and, at least in my experience, better reliability.

To me capacity is a moot point in the era of ten rounds Clinton mags. If you want to buy preban mags than a BHP and a P228 will take 13 rounds and a Glock 15. There are also preban mags with higher capacity mags that fit flush such as 15 rounds MecGars for the P228. Mags the extend out a bit are available all the way up to 33 round canes for the 9mm Glocks. Prices vary, but the most affordable are preban BHP mags, I've seen factory mags for $60 and MecGars for $50. Glock 19 and P228 mags range from $75 to $125. Although Glock 19 preban mags are easier to find. Postban mags are nearly equal in price. They run about $20 or less.

As others have said, rent and try them all before you buy.

So many pistols, so little money.
