SIG AND LEFT HANDERS

I keep hereing people say sigs are not for left handed shooters , glad I bought mine before I read thsi bunk..any lefty with average dexterity, can function the decocker and all other functions easily with a sig...

Exactly why I (a southpaw) bought a Sig. Back in '87, there were only 2 DA .45s authorized for carry. One was the S&W 645 and the other the Sig. Well, I went with the Sig b/c it didn't have an external thumb operated safety (the S&W 645 doesn't have an ambidextrious safety like the newer 4506 does).

The Sig's decocking lever is easily engaged by the trigger finger. The mag latch was changed for the left thumb, but I switched it back since I found it easier just to use the index finger.

And there's the added bonus that of you want to change the mag release to the right side it can be done in minutes. I practice left hand shooting, decocking and slide release, and while my dexterity with my left hand appraoches the laughable, I've never had any trouble.

So many pistols, so little money.

Ditto Gary's response. I shoot a P220, 228 and 229, and can operate the decocker and mag release with my left index finger.

I'll agree, the Sig is as easy to handle left handed as right. Once you get the feel of the decocker it doesn't present any real problem.

We are the people our parents warned us about.

I listened and bought a left handed HK USP COMPACT. I was not disappointed with that purchase. However after reading an article on SIG's website about left handed shooters, I bought the first P239 I came across. It's a .357sig and I can operate it as well as if not better than the HK. Ilove both of my guns, and my wife for putting up with me and my purchases. ;)
