Sig 938 vs Glock 43 vs LC9S Pro for everyday carry

I like each of these three pistols for different reasons and it's hard to decide between them.

I'd like to hear your collective thoughts as to what you like and don't like.

If it matters I always carry in a pocket holster in my front pocket. Not being a 1911 user, I would have to train a little on carrying in condition 1. The LC9 Pro does not have a safety which is fine with me.

I do not own any of the three. So as an independent recommendation, I would suggest you rotate the three until you decide which is best for you.

Which one do you consider the most reliable and which one do you shoot the best?

The best decision should be made by the carrier as opposed to a second party.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my post. I am going to purchase one of them. I don't own any of them now.

I would go with the SIG You will with a good pocket holster get used to locked and cocked

I carry a old Mustang and took me a while to trust Now if I carry its ready to go. :D

I never owned any of them. I did handle and breifly fire a friend's 938 at the range this week. I like Sigs and the 938 is very nice. It racks a little hard for its small size. I could enjoy owning one of those or in the 238 version. Glocks are nice and the 43 gets great reviews. But Glocks just don't excite me. As for that safetiless LC9S, of which I am not that familar, I wouldn't put that in my pocket given no safety.

Best wishes on your selection. Lastly, go Vandy!

Honestly, I think I'd feel safe with any of them. I'm most used to the LC9 but the Glock is nice too. I wish I'd never picked up that $%@# Sig! I just love them and it clouds my judgement. :D

The SIG is the nicest of the three, but by far the most expensive. The SIG likely has the best trigger. You get an additional round with the Ruger. Weight differences among the three don't amount to much.

If I were flush with cash I'd spring for the SIG -- as a wise man once said, "When you buy quality you only squawk once." if I had to be utilitarian, I'd opt for the Ruger.

Having shot all 3, (except the Ruger I've only shot the LC9, not the LC9s)...

I'd be between the Sig and the Glock.

I'd leave out the Ruger because it is the same idea as the Glock, but I prefer the feel of the Glock better in all regards.

I actually carry a Ruger LC9 from time to time in my pocket with out a holster. I figure the manual safety and long trigger pull along with being in an otherwise empty pocket are safety enough.

The Glock and the Sig both feel great to me. They both shoot great too. I'd honestly have a hard time deciding between the two. The Sig comes from the factory with night sights, so that helps justify it's extra cost over the Glock to some degree.

Yup, I'm stuck between the two, about 50/50.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

PS... All 3 have been 100 percent reliable in my experience except for the Ruger. It didn't like the Hornady Critical Defense ammo I tried out of it. The end of the case where the bullet meets the case kept getting hung up on the magazines no matter which magazine I used.

I have a P. 938 that I carry when I do not carry a Sig P 238, G 42 The 938 is the nicest of the four ppm (all though all are reliable) is easily carried and is a 9mm. Also I have the ability to convert the pistol to .22 lr in about thirty seconds and have the neatest compact rimfire pistol on the market. Cocked and locked carry holds no frightening difficulties for me although I carry it in kydex IWB Holster.

My wife carries the Glock 43, I have the SIG 938. The SIG is slightly smaller, trigger is better, and with the Hogue rubber grips the felt recoil is slightly less than the G43. The SIG comes with night sights which I like. I only use the gun with an extended magazine because with the flush magazine the grip is just too small for my hands.

Malfunctions....the gun itself has never malfunctioned...but, if you grip the gun high on the frame, there is a possibility of inadvertently pushing in on the magazine release. The magazine will not drop out of the gun, but it drops down far enough that the gun will not pick up the next round and locks open. Meaning, you have to be careful with your grip on the gun.

My wife likes the G43 because it does not have a thumb safety and is a bit lighter than the SIG. She doesn't like the Glock trigger, but understands the stiff pull and longish travel required because of the safety mechanism.

I do not like the Glock specifically because of the trigger and sights which are just white dots. I know, you can "fix" the trigger by changing parts. It's a carry gun for my wife - I'm not going to do that. I also know I can change the sights, and will probably do that.

Have never held or shot the Ruger, therefore, I have no comments on it.

I'd suggest that everyone here will just tell you their personal preferences. There is no definitive answer, all three are very good carry guns.

You should choose the gun on your personal preferences. Obviously - size, weight, number of rounds, safety / no safety, trigger pull, number of rounds, and grip size are functional considerations.

You can't go wrong with any of the guns. Pick the one that fits your requirements and budget, and feels best in your hand.

I just recently shot the glock 43. It was awesome. I thought it would have much more kick for such a little gun but it did not. I like the glock more than the sig because I do not like the exposed hammer of the sig. Either is a good choice though. I did hold both of them side by side and did easily notice the glock felt lighter. Definitely hold both of them and shoot them if you can. You cant go wrong with either.

So I can sorta chime in. I have the little brothers - the Sig p238 and the Glock 42

I carry them both, but in different situations. I'm a pocket carry kinda guy, so it depends on what I'm wearing what I carry. Since you're a 1911 guy, the Sig will make for an easy transition. Pull out of the pocket, flick off the safety and go. The glock took me a little adjusting carrying it hot in my pocket, but now I don't feel concerned at all.

The Sig feels heavier than the Glock. The Sig is a little thinner in my pocket, and on my Glock I have a pearce grip so it takes up a little more room. The Sig comes with night sights, and that's nice - with the Glock you're looking at an additional $100 for some nice sights.

As for shooting, I like the way the Glock fits in my hand better. It's slightly thicker and it's really a perfect fit. I prefer the trigger of the Sig, but the Glock triggers have gotten a lot better with the Gen 4 guns.

The glock is slightly easier to take apart and clean, but the Sig is also very easy so I wouldn't make that a determining factor.

I really like them both. I find myself preferring to shoot the Glock lately, but in the past it was the Sig. To me it was an impossible decision, so I got both - but if I could only have one it would be the Sig. The safety is a nice feature, the included night sights, and being slightly narrow gives it an advantage.

like my LC9s Pro, haven't held a G43 but as a rule Glocks don't fit my hand well, I often pocket carry in left front pocket and haven't practiced sweeping a safety enough with my left to feel comfortable. You'd be well served with any of the three I'm sure.

If I plan on carrying a .380 "pocket pistol", I want it as light and compact as practical. It also (obviously) has to be reliable and affordable. For these reasons, the Ruger LCP is what I carry. Anything much bigger or heavier than the LCP and I would "step up" to something like a 9mm.

All three guns he's looking at are 9mm

I carry a G43 almost every day. The prime considerations for me were that (a) I had been carrying either a G17 or G19 for the previous years and had trained with them (incl a week at Gunsite,) and liked the ergonomics/manual of arms/simplicity of maintenance, and (b) since I'd started working in a more button-down office environment, I wanted something more concealable. G43 fit the bill well enough.

I added the Trijicon HD night sights, and most of my magazines have one of the following extenders: Taran Tactical +2, Ghost +2, or Pearce +1. (I'd suggest getting the Ghost over Taran -- it's cheaper, and comes with a replacement spring.) The Pearce +1 is basically the same size as the factory mag with extension, and costs $10/ea, so at least get that.

The G43 is pocketable...but if you want a pocket pistol for extreme concealment, one of the .380 offerings from Kahr or Ruger might be more appropriate. The G43 is at its best when riding on a hip, I think.

I have no experience with the other pistols at this point, but am quite happy with my G43. If you like Glocks, but have occasionally found yourself wishing that the grip wasn't quite as thick, you'll probably like it. If not, you might find the G26 to be more of your cup of tea.
