I am not sure about the process for changing barrels. However, the flash hider is removable. It is threaded 1/2 x 28 which is the standard thread pattern for the AR rifles. So any AR flash hider will also fit on the 522. I take mine off all the time to mount up one of my suppressors.
Why are you looking to changes barrels? Is there some issue for you?
