Sig 239 .40

This one goes out to all the Sigophiles (or just those that have experimented with it). I've got a 229 that I carry but it recently seems to have grown thicker (why else would the space inside the waistband shrink). So, what about the 239 .40? I've tried the 9mm version and enjoyed it except the trigger seemed a little awkward. The trigger reach seems to be reduced. Will the Hogue grips remedy this problem?

Also, what is the recoil like with the .40? My 229 is a pussycat with 155 Silvertips (my favored load) or 135 gr JHPs (second only because of cost). Any comparisons?

Hmmm... which is gonna be more expensive: A new wardrobe of britches, or the new Sig?? Guarratee the sig will outlast the waistline, and will always fit the same ;) I'm a small guy with small hands, and the P239 in .40 is no problem. Admittedly, the 9mm's seem a little more like a capgun after shooting the .40, but I think it's due to the increased "sharpness" of the .40's recoil. The Hogue grips feel great, they do increase the grip's size in all directions. The great feel of the soft rubber has a tradeoff, it tends to "drag" on clothing. For all day, every day concealment, it's the P239 all the way. You'll probably forget that you have it with you.

Buzz,
I just bought a 239 in .40 recently, I also have the 229 .40. I do not notice anymore recoil in the 239. The 239 in 9mm you tried probably had the short trigger. The Hogues feel great and help absorb recoil. Get the 239 .40 you won't regret it. I understand about your pants, they just don't make clothes like they used to.

Please stop talking about the P239. The more I hear about it the more I want one and my budget cannot accomodate it, at least not yet! ;)

So many pistols, so little money.

Buzz: I don't own a .40 SIG 239, so I can't really help out except to comment that I do own 239s in 9mm and .357 SIG and to me they simple can't be beat. I shoot the 9mm in IDPA and tactical with 10 round extend magazines. For CCW the flush mounted 9mm or .357 SIG mags are great. Outfitted with Hogue grips and night sight they're very hard to beat. Regards, Dennis
