Just got a Sig P238. The instructions say to not put the spring in backwards, referring to the wide end. Well, as best I can tell, there is no wide end. The spring looks perfectly the same on both sides.

Am I missing something or did Sig switch to a spring that's the same width on both sides now?

SIG has made changes to the spring. If both ends are the same size it won't make any difference which way you install it. Just for your info the last spring is they came out with is a flat coil spring.

If you do not have the flat recoil spring that GWJ mentioned, call Sig and they will send you one. Also, if you have the spring that is tapered at one end, yes it does make a difference - put the small end on first. That's what I had in my 238 when I first got it and it failed after about 150 rounds.
Also make sure you have the V3 (third version) magazine, and you will have one awesome little .380!
