Local gun shop offered me a Sig 232 for $420 + tax. Is this too much? I am planning to go a gun show in November. But, he said that I wouldn't find a Sig 232 at this price at the gun show. Should I trust him and buy it? or should I go to the gun show? He said that the gun is sale for short time. Thank you all.

An eight-shot .380 ACP for $420.00... sounds a little high. Buy two Bersa's, FEG's or KBI's instead.

I would have to call BULL S---! on the gun store guy!!!

Not only can you find it cheaper at a gun show, you can pit one dealer against another at a gun show...
Especially at the end of the show!!!

You should not have to spend more than $350 on that LIL' P232 .380...
I have seen them for that at gun shows, and I have seen the older P230 NIB for less than $300...

Smells like typical gun store clerk con to me...

Sig Man,

The 232 will always be available. If not from him than somebody else. In fact, maybe you can find a regular 230 instead. the 232 is an "updated" 230, but the 230 is slightly better, (or maybe different is better term). They used to be available in Aluminum alloy, which would be best for weight. You can look at a copy of Shotgun news or Gun List (newspaper mags) at your grocery store mag rack for comparing prices. The 230 is THE best of the 380 caliber handguns IMHO. There are cheaper, but you get what you pay for. My friend had a trigger job done on his 230 by a Sig specialist I know. Man does that trigger pull feel like silk across clean glass!
When a salesman starts talking about his merchandise not being around for long, let him sell it to someone else. If its not around, he can buy another new one for the same price. I do assume that it is new in the box? Don't let him presure you. You have the $ and he wants it. Remember prices are negotiable. If you see a cheaper price in Gun List, take it in and ask him, or others at the show, if he can beat the price. Best wishes. Have Qs contact me at EQUALIZERplus@netscape.net

SIG Man, $420 is a bit high (you didn't say whether it was blued of stainless, stainless is usually $25-30 more than blued), I paid $395 for a blue 232 18 mos ago, then saw it at a show for $365, and have seen it cheaper in ads (but if you buy mail order figure in shipping and FFL xfer fees). The dealer was right though, you won';t find it at THAT price, but probably one much better. The 232 differs from the 230 in the grips (a bit fatter palm swell) and three dot sights, but otherwise, it's the same gun (the stainless is all stanless, whereas the blude gun has an alloy frame, steel slide). The blued model is about 6 oz lighter than the stainless, which is nicer to carry, but haws a bit more muzzle flip and felt recoil. Mine has been eminently reliable (it has never jammed or misfed) on anything I've fed it and is very accurate, a nice shooter overall. Good luck, M2
