How many have any experience with IWB carry of their 229 9mm. Ive got over 500 rounds through my relatively new 229. I bought it to take over evey day carry duty, from my Glock 23. And im gonna start transitioning to make it my EDC piece. Nothing wrong with the G23, it has served me well, just want a change. I will be carrying IWB at about the 5oclock position. Just looking for opinions from guys that carry or have carried their 229. Just lookin for general info on comfort, weight, or any other info you might think would be usefull or interesting
Thanks... J

I went the other direction, SIG to Glock. :)

I had a couple of P229's, in 357SIG. Mostly carried them about the same spot as you, in a Blade Tech kydex IWB, or a Milt Sparks VMII. Really nothing different about carrying them from anything else. They carry easily and comfortably IWB.

I also had P220's and P226's, and ended up carrying one of the P226's more than any of the other SIG's I owned. While there is really little difference between the P26 and P229 size wise, I always found the P226 fit my hand better, and the gun was a little more svelte, little less pudgy than the P229.

I had ordered the new AG 3.0 but ended up sending it back. The decocker on my 229 would catch the lip of the top portion of the holster and literally tore a chunk out of it the first time I holstered. I had a couple 2.0's and same problem. The 229 isn't my edc but I do carry it on occasion and will carry more this winter. Currently when I do carry I actually am pleasantly surprised how well my remora RFT has worked, I cc aiwb and the 229 is easier than I though it would be to carry. If I were to cc at the more traditional position I would definitely get a 2 clip system and it would be the steathgear onyx.(should have done that in the first place). I have 2 for aiwb and they are incredibly comfortable so the onyx would be perfect for the 5:00 position.

I'll second the N82 holsters. I've carried as big as a Sig 226 and as small as a Walther PPQ M1 without issues and in comfort.

I've carried my P229 extreme for about 6 months now. Due to the thickness I do have to be careful of my clothing, it is not easily concealed, but it can be concealed. I carry mine in a leather Bianchi 100 holster IWB @ 4 o'clock.
It is a smooth shooting gun, but I'm currently debating swith in to a new platform. Thinking M&P currently.
Please be sure to clean it often if you do carry it, about once a month is my recommendation. Every 2 months I have to do a complete disassembly due to the heat and humidity of SC, sweat gets in the gun and rust starts to occur on the pins, and where the pins go through the hammer, sear, etc. And that's with me oiling and greasing liberally with mill-comm products on EVERY inch of metal. Also, due to the continued disassembly, one of the hole for the grip screws, the threads have become stripped, since sig thinks it's a good idea to have steel screws contacting aluminum threads.
It is a nice shooter, but most likely my last and only sig due to the quirks I have with the company. YMMV

In addition to how well they fit me, this is one of the reasons I prefer the newer E2 grips over the originals: no more stripped screw holes in the frame (my Model 220 Carry came from the factory with a stripped hole).

To the op, I regularly carry a SIG Model 227 pistol comfortably concealed in a Galco "King Tuk" iwb holster.

It's probably a bit chunky for carry, but for what it's worth, about 4 months ago I talked my friend who had just joined a law enforcement agency into picking a P229 Extreme after we rented and tested a ton together. He ponied up the dough, and tells me he has now shot 2,500 flawless rounds and qualified 48/50 on the first try. He trusts it with his life and absolutely loves it.

I just ordered a P220 myself. The P-series are great.

I know the e2 grips will work for the situation I have, however, I bought the extreme model for the g10 grips. It even came from the factory with red thread locker on the grip screws.

Loads of folks do/have done it. Be sure to get a good holster and a sturdy belt. It will probably be noticeably heavier and thicker than your Glock, but everyone has a different preference for carry.
