I have a chance to buy a sig226 elite stainless in 9mm with less than 100 rounds though it for825.00 used or a new 226 tacops 40cal new 1070.00 I know witch one l want just want to see what some of you would pick thank you

I personally take the P229 Stainless Elite assuming it actually is LNIB (every used gun when asked has about 100 rounds through it). I also prefer 9MM and 9MM will hold resale better and be easier to sell.

I'd go for the 9...

That's the only real reason, because it's a 9mm. Otherwise I'd be torn between the two.

As has already been said, they both cost more than I'd care to pay. But I'm not a very big Sig fan.

If I were to buy one it might be one of the single action ones that you can carry cocked and locked like a 1911, but even after firing one of them, I still didn't feel like it was worth the money.

I'm getting a little carried away here. But in the end, choosing between the two, I'd go with the 9mm in stainless with the wood grips. I think it would be the better gun to buy, considering it's "attractive" appearance, it's generally more desirable caliber, and especially for the used price for a virtually new gun. I think it would be better than an identical but tactically themed model in 40 for more money.

Just my preference.

Good luck!

Do you own a Beretta? ;)

I too, would go for the 9mm. I never bought into the whole .40 S&W thing and I like that the cost of factory 9mm is very reasonable.

I never thought about Sigs one way or the other until I happened to find a deal on a West German P226. After shooting it, I got rid of all my Glocks.

Yes, the Sig is that much better.

I have the 9mm elite P226 myself & its a smooth running beast....of those two I'd go 9mm, ammo is significantly cheaper which is something you'll want to seriously consider because the 226 is a gun you'll want to shoot again and again and again and again....its an ideal platform for the 9mm

You'd better pounce on that Elite Stainless while it's still there! A .40S&W TacOps doesn't thrill me, one in nine would do it for me!

I like the .40 and I like the idea of getting a new pistol having a lifetime warranty when the cost is relatively close to that of a used pistol (though I concede that the $245.00 difference in price between the two guns pushes the envelope of being "relatively close"). If you prefer the 9mm for your own reasons, your decision becomes far less difficult to make.

I have a P226 MK25 in 9mm. And my carry gun is a P229 in 9mm. Not a huge .40 SW guy, but I can tell you my 9mm sigs are really sweet shooters

So which one was the winner?

I have a 226 scorpion, it has the elite frame... It's alloy, not stainless though. Many think the beavertail on a Sig elite frame does nothing but look good... But for me, it makes a big difference in how it shoots.

It is the smoothest shooting pistol I own. Racking the slide feels like it's slides on bearings. Other pistols I have, definitely have some clunckiness to them.

I also prefer 9mm...im thinking the stainless frame will make the pistol even smoother shooting.

Sigh are expensive, but they are well made. A truly low round count elite stainless for that price isn't a bad deal at all.
