Justin, by "dealer price" I meant the dealer retail price, not the price the dealer pays the distributor -- my bad, sorry! Your local price is about the same as here. I noticed an R Guns ad for .40 and .357 P226s still going at $580, which is very, very good (assuming they're new and complete) -- although I prefer the 9x19.
Bob C, a full-nickle pistol is actually quite rare. Since this is NIB/complete with nickled mags and all papers, it is probably worth a good deal more than the prices we've discussed. For example, a local dealer recently got a full-nickle P228 with box/papers/mags and it went quickly at a $250 premium to the price of a new, blue, 2x lo-cap P228. Of course, in the end it's only worth what someone will actually pay for it, and you may not be interested in paying as much as someone else. Then again, the seller may not be looking for the highest possible price. Bottom line: around here, that pistol would sell for at least $850 (a good price) and if the seller were willing to wait a bit could probably be sold for at least $100 more.
However, before someone pays that kind of money, they should call SIG and make sure that the pistol actually left the factory fully nickled. I guess in this case there isn't much doubt, since the box and receipt probably confirm it, but most nickled SIGs out there are aftermarket finishes and are not worth the premiums associated with the factory nickle pistols.
Honest opinion, for myself? I'd pass unless the seller sells it to you at a very low price. The nickle finish pistols are more collector items than shooters due to the price premium, and I don't particularly like looking over the bright slide to find the sights.
