Sig 226 SRT

Im thinking of adding the SRT trigger to my p226 MK25. Is it worth the money and effort? Does it make a big difference. I dont mind the standard single action break of the 226. I really dont mind (too much ) the long reset. But I do despise all of the excess rearward movement of the trigger before it engages and breaks. Will the SRT reduce that amount of rearward movement, or just shorten the reset?

No, it won't. It won't reduce pre travel, only the reset distance. With that said, yes, I 100% advocate installing the SRT kit. Also get the Gray Gun P-SPIT trigger - it's about $60. It has a built in over-travel stop and will make the break very, very nice.

The P-SPIT and SRT are requirements on all of my Sigs. Really gives you a nice trigger. The only thing better is spending the money on actually sending the gun to Bruce Gray for the full work up, but that's several hundred dollars.

Good luck. It's pretty easy to do.

Like I said I do like the sig trigger, and if the SRT makes it that much better... im definately gonna do it. Probably gonna look into the P SPIT trigger as well. I appreciate you guys clarifying the exact description of what the SRT does. Even if I cant turn it in to a 1911 trigger, if I can make an already pretty decent trigger better, its probably money well spent.

Agreed on the above. Well worth the money to improve your Sig. I've installed many on various models, and everyone loves the improvement. The kit does as it says: shortens reset. Really helps the feel and your follow up shots. All of my Sigs are either DAK triggers, or DA/SA converted to SRT.

I'll take the opposite opinion. I put an SRT trigger into my 226. It is different, but if someone swapped them out and handed me the gun to fire without telling me, it probably wouldn't even register if I hadn't shot the gun in a while. I dunno, firing a da/sa gun in single action mode pretty much feels the same in any gun I've shot, with minor differences if you're paying attention. If you're going to shoot it all the time, out the SRT in. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother

I put the SRT in my MK25 first thing, along with the short trigger. As has been mentioned, it only shortens reset. I definitely prefer the SRT in the traditional DA/SA SIGs, and wish it had been standard or at least available, since my first SIGs in the mid-'80s. I carried a P226 40+ hours a week for several years, am an LE SIG armorer and still enjoy SIGs, but never liked the long, soggy trigger reset. The traditional, non SRT, DA/SA SIGs, and the FN/ Brownig Hi Powers, are the only two pistols I can recall occasionally short stroking, causing failure of the trigger to reset due to the long trigger reset on both. Still wish there was something similar available for my Hi Powers that was as inexpensive and easy to install as the SRT for the SIGs....ymmv

I dropped an SRT into my Sig, along with a set of E2 grips, and it was like owning a new (nicer) firearm. Absolute dream to shoot. Follow up shots are fast, and incredibly effective. The less mechanical variables you put into a firearm by working the trigger, the better. Part of that is good training, the other part is good gear.

Highly recommend it. At $50 + 15 minutes of time, even if you don't like it, you are only out the peerless company of one Ulysses Grant.

I think it's worth the money. Don't remember exactly but I think mine was $35. It's an easy install to do yourself. It shortens the reset a good amount. I wouldn't waste your time and money sending the gun to Sig for the install.
