Sig 226 - light primer strikes

solvability

Used gun - unreliable ignition from the start - I replaced the hammer spring and got about 2k rounds through it without problems - now started again.

This is an early model - there are two hammer spring designs - long strut and short strut - this came with the older long strut and I updated to the newer short strut style - that worked for 2k, but that is short spring life - anyone have any thoughts on this - is there another wear area that might give light strikes?

It maybe your ammo try to use another brand and see what happens.

Did you replace the hammer spring with a factory weight spring or a reduced power one?

replaced with factory (SIG) standard. Same ammo for 2K - then same ammo starts to need a restrike. I ordered a pack of 3 hammer springs from SIG and may just have to replace them more often - but they ought to last 6-10K IMHO

Finally got a resolution on this one - a SIG specific issue - there are two roll pins holding the "breech block" in place (one inside the other) The larger outer pin had sheared on one side and the block was loose - I expect it was either moving out of alignment enough to prevent the firing pin from striking properly or was absorbing the energy in moving - in any event it is fixed and back and service.
