I am a big fan of Sigs. I have owned most, if not all of their P series of all metal guns with hammers. I have bought the Legend and most of their models, even their single action only which had a trigger too light to consider for home defense duty. I would guess that about 14 Sigs have passed through my hands in the last 7 years. I do buy a lot of guns.
As I eyed newer guns that I just had to have, I sold off my Sigs. The DA/SA which I used to compete with, was not as familiar as it used to be when that was all I shot. One day I sold off my last P229, P239o and P226. I kept the P238 since I have a fancy model that looks good in my collection. A few months later I wanted to own another P226 for home defense but did not want to spend that kind of money again on a gun that would literally sit in a handgun safe in my living room.
I found some LEO trade-ins online and bought one listed in very good condition, for $399. It truly was in very good condition. Not even holster wear. It is a .40 cal which I converted to .357 Sig ( a cartridge misunderstood by most who only read about it). It also has a DAK trigger which feels like my revolvers, but lighter.
There is a reason why Spec ops used this gun for a long time. They can choose any gun they want and yet stick with the P226. Now they are being issued a Glock 19 but still can carry any gun they want to. Glocks are cheaper and more important, lighter in weight. With all the gear they have to carry, every ounce counts. I know that from my Vietnam days when we did not even have all the stuff our soldiers carry today. Great gun.
