Hello guys. I have been reading your forum, and have to admit it is absolutely awesome, so I joined today. I am just getting back into shooting, and just bought a SIG 226 9mm (NIB) this weekend. My question is, where can you get factory or other high quality hi-cap mags for a 9mm 226, and how much do they run? Thanks for your help.

Congrats on your new Sig.

I have owned the P-226 and P-228 for a long time now, and they are wonderful.

As for the hi cap magazines, I have seem them at gun shops from 65 to 100 dollars for true sig factory mags.

Get the shotgun news and look through there and you will find a world of aftermaket hi-cap mags.

I have three sig mags and one Pachmyer and they all work well.

Happy shooting.

Congratulatons! Did you get one of the old style slide formed over a mandrel or the latest version stainless steel slide? How does it shoot?

Look for Mecgar mags in shotgun news. I believe they make factory mags for a lot of high quality manufacturers. I had USA high caps and they never jammed. I guess I'm lucky because I haven't experienced failure with pro mags either. Don't get Triple K mags they suck. Have fun with your 226 I miss mine, but am glad I have his brother 220.

Call all of the major mail orders like Midway, CDNN, etc and don't forget about the Pro-Mags.

Their hi-caps are overall reliable for the P226 and only cost me $24.99 four months ago.

They have proved themselves reliable in my P226. Just make sure they have new floorplates and followers!

Even if you only use them for training, you can still save your factory mags for carry.

Glad you like the 226 because I may need to buy one. A friend buys power tools at the pawn shop and on his last shopping trip he bought 7 hi-cap 9mm Sig factory mags for 70 dollars. Yes, 10 bucks apiece and while they are used, only one had a spot of rust on it. Some people have all the luck, but he said he would sell me two for what they cost him and wouldn't make me take the rusty one. Great guy! John

cthomas,

Either the original or newer P226s make exceptional defense tools.

johnbt,

$10 each for used P226 mags? Heck, at that price I'd take them even if they were coated with rust. Changing springs, followers and getting them re-finished would still make them incredible bargains. Now go out and get yourself a P226!

you are lucky. the P226 Sig is one of the few pistols that still have a large quanity of hi cap mags out there cheap. check Cheaper Than Dirt, Ajax Grips, Sportsmans Guide, and the ProMag site. expect from $12.00 to $15.00 for decent aftermarket stuff. i bought a handful of ProMag 15 round mags a a gun show new for $12.00. i also bought two 30 round mags for the same gun. they all shoot great.
