Sig 225....Still available?

I shot a P225 a few years ago and found it to be a nice handling pistol. I was just wondering if they are still made, or were they eclipsed by the 228?

Thanks

I REALLY, REALLY want a NIB P225. I've looked all over and asked everyone that will listen! I haven't found a NIB 225 since I started looking over a year ago. :( That is one nice pistol!

Actually the P239 is supposed to phase out the P225. There are some NIB ones out there as SIG Arms conitnues to import them. Try Precision Armory, 281-379-6881, ask for Mike. They might be able to help you out.

So many pistols, so little money.

I think that they're still made but they just weren't as popular here as they were in Europe due to the 8 round mag. The P226, P228, and P239 have made it difficult for the P225 to sell, too. Too bad, because the P225 has one of the best profiles with it's slim grip. I think I saw one on www.gunsamerica.com the other day but I don't know if it's NIB and/or how old the add is. I've seen KY-Imports ads in Shotgun News selling them used for $329.99; no idea of condition. Good luck.

Thanks guys! I'm now playing phone tag with Precission Armory. Hey Buzz, do you have a phone number ofr Jerry's Shooting Supplies? My FFL doesn't know how to get hold of them.

Thanks,
Gino, who will go to sleep with visions of P225s dancing in his head!

I should be able to get both the phone number and the product code to you tomorrow. I've got that catalog at home. Benefits of having a FFL in the family.

Please post the information for Jerry's Shooting Supplies. Is this a reputable company? have you dealt with them before?

Jerry's is, in my experience, a very good company. My brother-in-law and I (my FFL's main customers) usually buy a few cases of ammo from them a year, with a firearm thrown in on occasion. The only problem I've ever had is that they can't seem to stock enough Triton 135 gr so I'm always backordered!

Is this the same Jerry's located in Forest City, PA? I think they have a website. Do a search and you should come up with it.

I'm truly pleased to see a lot of people finally giving the 225 the attention it deserves. Living in the shadows of Sigs' hicap nines has always made the 225 an also ran.

To me, the feel of the 225 is superior to all other autos. There's just enough room on the gripstrap for all my fingers. That, coupled with the backstrap design snugs the pistol in my hand perfectly. I don't feel the least bit handicapped by the 8 round capacity of this excellent gun.

225s are still to be found. Even though there were less sold than other Sigs over the years, the 225 has been available in this country for almost twenty tears.

I got mine late in '98 from David Avery.( great guy to deal with ) I paid $469 for a NIB 225, K kote, and Siglites, and yes, I'm bragging.

Jerrys DOES NOT HAVE ANY. Called them today (benefit of being the friend of an FFL), they haven't had them for awhile (even though they are listed in their new book, from Feb-April 2000). As with most distributrs, the catalogs can't fully be relied upon. Also, Jerry's checked the computer for the other 7 distriburtors they deal with and none had any either.

Parabellum,

I agree totally.

FWIW, The 225 IS a "high cap" if you carry two spare, slim mags. *25* Rounds available. Not bad in my book. To me 2 single stacks are more comfortable than 1 double stack.
Why SIG engineers didn't make the 239 with a grip like the 225 or 230 is anyone's guess. They are the two most ergonomic pistols I've ever pointed and fired.....Opinion subject to subjectivity of course.

Well, Different strokes for different folks.
My friend has the whole rack of Sig Pistols, 220, 228, 226, 245, 239 but he did/does not like the underdog 225. I am a big Beretta Fan who has the whole rack of Beretta 84, 87, 92, 96, 8040... and a lone Sig 225. This 225 has a highly respectable place on my collection. I like it better than any of my friend's Sig Pistols. Simply because of the grip, the pointability, the accuracy. I would not worry about the limit of 8 rounds because for me, one shot one count. The only bad thing for all the Sigs is the finish, very bad compared to my Berettas.
