Can anyone answer this question I have a full size Sig 1911 nightmare made in may of 2015 flawless works great my friend has the Same gun made in September of 2012 nothing but problems failed to feed it stovepipes and the slide does not lock back on last shot. Is there any problems with the older Sig nightmare any input will be helpful thank you.

Sounds like a magazine or extractor issue. Could be the extractor is under-tensioned

Luckily 1911s are fairly easy to diagnose. What magazines is he using?

Have him call Sig. They should be able to help him out. They may even fix it for free or for the cost of shipping. It may be a issue with that year. Cant hurt to give them a call.

Is he also using factory ammunition, and not reloads? Although the factory magazines are probably fine, it would be a good idea for him to get ahold of some higher quality magazines. I know that i bought a new Colt brand 7rd mag for my springfield, and when using it, my gun had the first failures it has ever experienced in its lifetime. I had a couple failure to feeds and a couple of stovepipes.

After using the magazine a few more times and giving it a good cleaning, it has worled fine, although i still dont trust it and use it strictly for target duty.

Some all around good magazines that are universally recommended

Tripp research Cobra mags
Wilson Combat magazines
Chip Mccormick Power mags
Metalform magazines

I have 2 factory Springfield 7rd, a kimber stainless 8rd, a Wilson combat extended tube 7rd, and a Colt brand mag (checkmate produced, i believe)

I use and trust the Springfield magazines the most. It is believed that a 7rd magazine will be more reliable/durable than an 8 or 10rd, also there are many different types of followers and fwed lips, and combinations of the two.

Before he sends it back to Sig, have him try a different quality magazine. If this doesnt work, he could always try and tune the extractor, with help from the internet. They are not expensive, nor hard to get to or replace

I have one that has been flawless. I would suspect the magazines. I use WilsonCombat mags for the most part and they work fine.

For gosh sake, have him call Sig. Their customer service has been very good with my guns. My 1911 had a feed problem and they not only fixed it, they did a superb trigger job as well. They sent me a FEDEx label and I had the gun back in less than two weeks. Rod

Problems with Sig 1911

I purchased one of these in late 2011. The only problem I had with it was that I really needed an ambidextrous safety. This particular pistol did not have one. I had a reputable local gunsmith make the required modification.

I've never had a jam, stovepipe or misfire with this firearm.

Slightly off point, but what marketing genius decided that a product's desirability is enhanced by naming it the "Nightmare?" Sounds more appropriate for something like the R51 or the late unlamented R G revolvers.

I have a full sized Nitemare and only have had problems when I tried reloading for it due to the tight chamber. Lee factory crimp die solved that problem. Other than that, it's been great with factory ammo and mags.

I would have your friend try different mags for sure. Any idea on round count on his gun?

Side note: Had a buddy think buy adding a much heavier recoil spring, it would reduce recoil. Starting causing feeding problems.

I wonder if your friend keeps it lubed up..

I have heard this kind of thing about p938's as well. I have seen many great 938's, and quite a few terrible ones. One fellow speculated that 80% of the 938's are produced perfectly, and that 20% seem to be off. I've began to wonder about the true quality of sig through this debacle.
