Had a question I've been wondering about for a while now. In a long term SHTF situation, what centerfire handgun caliber am I most likely to find while out looking for supplies? I know most police agencies use 9mm or .40, but what am I most likely to find in my area? Currently, I live in suburbia with a decent mix of all kinds of people and their hobbies.
I figure 9mm and .40 are the most common, followed by .45. Would the ability to shoot both .38 and .357 out of the same weapon bring it up to the same level of availability? I know I primarily shoot 9mm, but I don't have much of a frame of reference for everyone else. I don't expect to ever really NEED this, but you never know.
.22 would win by a wide margin, but I'm more concerned with centerfire calibers. I'm not concerned about the weapons, just the calibers at the moment.
