SHR 970

Greetings, all.

I plead ignorance in advance of my question. Here it is:

Do any of you have any familiarity with Sig-Sauer's SHR 970? It's attractive for several reasons. It seems that the quality would be very high. It also has that caliber-interchangeability thing goin' on.

My question is, do any of you know about the action? How does it feed and extract?

Any knowledgeable reply would be much appreciated.

A good friend of mine bought one a year or two ago and loves it. He is very picky with his rifles. He used to shoot for the Army, service rifle, high power etc. He is a Distinguished Rifleman and (I think) a winner of the Presidents 100, so he knows his stuff!

He has tried to make the rifle fail (ftf, fte) and hasn't been able to do it. It is very accurate, giving sub moa groups with a variety of ammo.

It seems like a very well thought out, well engineered rifle. The barrel interchangability feature is simple and easy to use.

I'd say it's a hell of a rifle.

If I were in the market, I'd buy one.

Thanks Jaeger.

That's all very encouraging. I'm still curious about the feeding of the beast. Does she control her rounds, or just push them like Sisyphus?

Best,
R

I've only handled them at gun shows. From the articles I've read and from looking at the bolt, I'd have to say it's a push-feeder. It looks like a decent rifle with some neat features: durable finish, short bolt throw, caliber interchangability and detachable magazine.
