Show us your War trophies.
I thought of this after seeing the thread about safe queens listed below.
Show us your war trophy. Through a relative or yourself and if possible tell its story. I know that this is primarily a hand gun section but I would like to keep it open to all guns.
Please no war guns you purchased, be honest.
The attached photo is a gun taken off a dead German outside of Dachau Germany by my father sometime in May 1945. He remembered being there several days after the 5th US army liberated the camp.
Some of the marking are “Fabrique national D’armes De Guerre Herstal Belgique” “Browning’s Patent Despose”. Just about every part has the serial number which is 1257XX.
There are several different proof marks on all the different parts of the gun. An eagle over the swastika and also one that I can’t make out which is a set of horizontal lines that at the center come together to what looks like a W and below that marking “WaA140” as best as I can make out. This corresponds to a Browning Model 1922 Pistol. This one is 7.65mm or 32ACP. They were used by the Luftwaffe, German Government, and SS.
With this marking it is a German made 32 auto with serial number ranging from 67000-155000. It was originally built as a Browning Model 1922 and it was modification of the Model 1910. The M1910 is the gun that started WWI when it was used to assassinated Arch Duke Ferdinand and Princess Sophie in Serbia.
The inside flap of the holster has a German service number, only part if it is readable and a name both are hand written.
I have tried to find information on the name but have been unable to.
