shoulder holster for compact 1911

I have a Springfield EMP .40 S&W (3" 1911) and use a Galco Miami Classic II. Fits well, easy to draw from, and the holster allows you to carry "cocked and locked".

Good shoulder holsters for 1911 series compact pistols...

For compact 1911a1 type pistols, I'd check into the Galco Miami Classic II, the Bianchi Tuxedo/Ranger system, the Aker model, DelFatti, Mitch Rosen.

I prefer angled type holsters like the Aker rig but designs that have spare mags in a horizonal rather than vertical carry mode. It seems like a more practical way to access magazines yet still have space or room for other items(a 2nd belt carry weapon, a cell phone/radio, handcuffs, OC spray, etc).

Galco offers shoulder holster system carry of 4 full pistol magazines, cuffs, etc too, ;).

The Miami works for a full sized and compact pistol in most models where the frame is the same basic size. Glock, 1911, etc.

I've been running my Miami again lately since it's a grab and go way to carry a pistol plus 2 mags.

If the frame is the same size, this one will work.

If you're shoulder holstering, why limit yourself to a compact? I know some folks get shoulder/back pain, but barring that, might as well carry a full size if its only concealed when wearing a jacket or coat.

When I carried my 1911 full size in my Miami classic, the muzzle poked out like a MoFo unless I wore a really fluffy or puffy jacket.

Trying to conceal it in a dress coat was a joke.

Instead of a Miami Classic, try a Galco Jackass Rig. Gun is carried in a much more vertical angle than a Miami Classic because of where the rear attachment point is for the harness-under the barrel as opposed to above it on the MC. It is what was used on Miami Vice because the Miami Classic didn't exist back then. Don Johnson isn't the biggest guy in the world and he didn't have that problem.
