Weaver Aluminum or Steel mounts for a post-64 M70 in 7mmRemMag???
It presently has the leupolds but all other firearms carry Weavers, thus allowing me to swap a scope if needed.
 
I've never had the Weaver aluminum bases ever "give up" on me. Mostly '06. I've used "Brand X" aluminum rings, for that matter, with no problems. I dunno. Offhand, other than minor issues with things like wrong height on bases, I don't guess anybody's mount setup has been a problem.
 
I have had problems with my 7mm rem mag with the scope sliding back in the mounts , be sure they are tight enough!
 
Having used slugs growing up..

in Ohio, then Michigan. I had no problem with scope slippage, using regular weaver rings.
I'm womder if I should use the steel Weaver mounts instead of aluminum for the 7mmMag?
