Should I Trade It Off?

I have a LNIB Glock 26 (9mm). I originally bought it for deep concealment purposes, and as a back up to a Glock 19. Outside of function firing it (100 rds), I haven't shot or carried the thing. When I need deep concealment, it's too big, and when I don't need deep concealment, I just carry the 19. It's the classic "tweener" problem. I have recently been strongly considering trading it towards a j or k frame style revolver. Part of me says to keep the 26 due to mag compatibility with the 19, but I have a hard time keeping a gun that I don't use. Am I crazy for even considering this? It shoots great (better than the 19 in some respects), but it isn't really serving a purpose. ANY and ALL imput will be taken into consideration and GREATLY appreciated.

First, make sure that whatever you'd replace it with is capable of filling the deep concealment role. The J frame size revolver is nice and small, but it isn't THAT much smaller than the subcompact Glock. Definitely compare size first and figure out if the smaller size is small enough.

You may also want to look into other carry methods for your miniGlock- do they make ankle carriers for them, and is that even realistic for you? How do you anticipate carrying the J frame, and why wouldn't that work for the Glock (and will it honestly work for the J frame)?

Also, consider maybe the pocket semiautos- Beretta Tomcat, Keltec P3AT, etc. Those hide better than a J frame due to their very thin profile, so those may be better suited to a deep concealment role- they're even enough cheaper than you may not need to offload the Glock in order to obtain one.

For something smaller than the 26, (I have one and it is NOT a deep concealment gun to me), you might look at one of the mouseguns. If you want to stay with 9mm, a Rohrbaugh, while expensive, would fill the bill.

Here's a list of mouseguns showing sizing and weight:

Depending on caliber, there are some great guns for deep concealment

I bought it because my wife wanted it for her CC but believe it or not...her S&W 3913tsw 9mm is pretty handy and slim enough to conceal.

...and I never was an S&W auto fan.

you said you bought it partly as a BUG to the 19 but it sounds like you carry the 19 INSTEAD of rather than in addition to. If you're not carrying both I would recommend so, but it's your choice. if you need one, then you need two.

I bought my 26 as a bug for my 17 only to find I can't really hide the 17 comfortable(maybe when I drop some weight) and am thinking about a 19.

have you really explored ALL of your carry options with regards to holsters and position as well as wardrobe? I think you'll find a way to make that 26 your favorite little big gun yet.

You're crazy for worrying about it.

You sound like me, over analyzing the problem.

Stop fretting. You don't shoot it, it's not a rarity and has no sentimental or historic value, so trade it off. It's not like it would be hard to replace.

Exactly.

If you ever decide that you screwed up and want another, they are plentiful and affordable. You will also get better price these days than they were when I sold my last Glock about two years ago for under $400 (a G19).

I am currently considering buying another.
