Comments from those with experience? I like the size and capacity of the 9 mm. Any problems with it? Thanks.

Mark,
I have a PT 111, and have put over 600 rounds through it without a major problem, but this is only a sample of one! Personally, I would recommend something with a little better reliability record, and a better trigger pull (they are very rough and heavy). I would not normally have bought the PT 111 for the above reasons, but I got it NIB from a friend for $75, and figured it was worth a gamble.
I would recommend the Kahr K9 if you want small and utterly reliabile, or P9 if you want light and more than likely just as reliable (new model). They also have a smaller model MK9 with shorter grip, and less magazine capacity, if your into three fingered shooting.
Glocks are without a doubt utterly reliable, but bulky compared to the Kahrs. They do have compact models, but I've never handled one.
You didn't mention your intended use for the pistol, and there are many other alternatives if size is no problem.
I recommend you go to a range that has gun rentals, and check out a few to see how they handle and shoot in your hands, because that is the ultimate test, then come back here and ask again about the one's that interest you.
HK USP is another reliable pistol, and the one's I've shot had very good triggers, and superb handling, but are generally a little higher priced.
I can also recommend the Ruger 9mm's as one of the best buys on the market, though others here look down on them, but few can dispute their ruggedness and reliability. Many also report good accuracy with the Rugers, including me and my son-in-law.
I didn't mention Sig, because I've never handled or fired one. The trigger pull is reported to be inconsistent on the Sigs, with some good and some bad, but they have a big following.
Also, the CZ75 and it's variants are great pistols, and probably the one I'll buy next. I particularly like the brushed satin (nickel?) finish CZ, over the blued version.
Take your time and find one you like, it's worth spending a little time looking, and can be a lot of fun.
Bill
