Should I get a gun signed by Tom Knapp??

I'm going to an expo that Tom is putting on in my area and i was thinking about having him sign a CZ 452 lux. Will this hurt the value of this gun or make it worth more? Thanks for the responses guys.

He is an exhibition shooter, i think he has the record of ten thrown clays and busting them before they hit the ground. I could be wrong on that though.

never heard of him.

My thought would be whether or not his writing on the gun could come off without damaging the finish.

Have a number of celebrity signed guns, I don't think it harms the value if done on the furniture.....which can always be refinished if someone doesn't like it. I get mine strictly for my own enjoyment....if it adds value so much the better.

In the shotgun community, Tom Knapp is right up there with Herb Parsons....a legend. I'd be more inclined to have him sign a shotgun than a rifle.

Best to have documentation that authenticates the signature, an affidavit or photo of them signing it. Some signatures are worth more than others, only time will tell. I use a silver paint pen (from any hobby or craft shop), makes the signature stand out better against a dark background.

Here's part of the collection....

I know who Tom Knapp is but I wouldn't pay you more for a gun he signed.

I think it would be pretty cool. I don't think his signature is going to increase the value of the gun. A gun shot by him might make a difference in price to some.

Regardless, bring a shotgun for him to sign, and leave the cz at home! It would kind of be like having Derek jeter sign a football. Its cool, but a little out of place!!

I'm thinking along the same lines as l98ster. The Jeter analogy is a good one. Tom's signature on the CZ wouldn't mean very much. Go buy a Benelli and have him sign that. :) Then the sig might be worth something over and above the cost of the gun.

"No offense, who is Tom Knapp?"
"never heard of him."

Kinda sad. How about Ad Topperwein?

Tom Knapp is sponsered by CZ now.

Why is it sad that people don't know who Tom Knapp is?

From the sound of it, he's a niche entertainer. Granted, a niche a lot of folks around here might enjoy but since when is it a requirement that gun owners be groupies of a sort?

Flanagan must have stole the show from Tom Knapp. It seems Benelli is really into the 3 gun stuff.
Tom looks like he is having a blast down in Argentina shooting doves. These guys were getting 700-1,000 doves a day with the CZ's. Real cool video

i don't see anything wrong with asking him to sign a rifle, although i'd probably take a favorite .22. i've seen him on TV not only throw 8 clays into the air and shoot all of them separately, but also toss an altoid into the air and shoot it with a .22 (makes a nice little puff). and it was a nice .22, had his name embossed on the stock in gold. pretty cool swag :D

I'd rather have Annie Oaklie's signature

Personally, I would not want any gun of mine, signed by Tom Knapp. But who know, perhaps a hundred years from now, it coud be worth something. ...
