I always gauge quality of a firearm off of well..quality of a firearm, for example to me, BCM is second to none in the ar world. My Springfield 1911 has proven awesome so far for I have reached the 700 round mark as of today, (yes that is about 500 rounds down the pipe today). Very happy with it...still am going to replace the extractor or at least see if it works well so I have a spare and also swapping out the stock recoil spring for a wolff 16 lb spring (chrom silic. I think).

^ gonna have to second that. Also you say you judge quality by quality but don't define what you consider quality. It's not an intangible concept. BCM is great but there's also Daniel Defense, Lewis Machine and Tool, a number of squared away companies. Same is true about 1911s. Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, lots of people in that game at different price points.

Don't get me wrong. Springfield Armory and BCM are very good companies. But there are lots of games in town these days.

I admit I like my SA 38 super very very much! Bought it second hand and reparkerized it, and brought back to original from a race gun, with rosewood checkered grips, a beautiful, powerful weapon. You didn't say what caliber Gunslick, one of the reasons I wanted the SA is because of the fully ramped barrel. DW and RIA make them also with ramped barrels.
