I recently got a new Gen 3 Glock 22.
First thing, I removed the finger grooves (protrusions), installed night sights, and a Lone Wolf steel striker, extractor & locking block.
Today, I endured 94 degree temperature (heat index 112 degrees) to test the Glock 22.
I shot a variety of ammo, including various hollow points, there were no malfunctions and no brass was thrown toward my face / head.
The Glock 22 seemed softer shooting (less snappy) than the 23, subjectively recoil felt like shooting the Glock 21 (45 acp) with a moderate load.
I like this pistol and can see it being a favorite for carry as an alternate to the model 21.
15 + rounds of 40 S&W with moderate felt recoil, should have got a Glock 22 a long time ago.
Chrono data (94 degrees)
Glock 22:
Remington UMC 180 gr. @ 957 fps / 366# KE
Federal Hydra-Shok 180 gr. @ 963 fps / 371# KE
Winchester White Box 180 JHP @ 964 fps / 372# KE
Speer Gold Dot 180 gr. @ 975 fps / 380# KE
Federal HST 180 gr. @ 996 fps / 397# KE
