Shotshell Holders

What's the best type of shotshell holder, and the best place to buy one of those shotshell holders for the stock?

I don't know about the ones that are built-in to the stock, but I just bought a sidesaddle 6-shot for my 870. I got it online for around $25. It goes opposite the ejection port.

1. There's the Speedfeed "I" stock, but I don't think that's what you're referring to or is it? It also comes in a pistol-gripped full stock version. They only come in the more or less standard 14" LOP, btw.
2. My favorite is the Spectergear.com (photo attached).
3. MichaelsofOregon.com's neoprene stretch-on carrier didn't work well for me. It stretched out, dropping shells out and the whole carrier slips forward to easily: http://www.michaelsoforegon.com/adt...y=4954223&subcatky1=4548774&subcatky2=2000118
4. I have an older version, which I like better, which has the entire body made from elastic instead of neoprene. This one has just held up better over a few years than the neoprene one.
5. I believe blackhawk.com has a carrier, too, which has a cheek pad and pouch, in addition to the shell carrier. I have not tried this one.

Spectre sent some samples for a recent shotgun project, that webbed carrier is now on one of my 870s, it's a good quality unit. Not as handy as the SideSaddle, but still carries spare rounds on the gun.
The problem I find with the six-round SideSaddles is that they clutter up the natural balance point of the shotgun for carrying it one-handed. A four-rounder can work better.

Thanks 75.
I'd forgotten about them.
Have an 870P MAX project coming up, just emailed Mesa about a carrier to try on it.

75,
Just got two from Mesa, both four-bangers, left side. One's adjustable on its mounting plate, you can put the four rounds in any of three locations fore & aft on it, the other's a dedicated position one.
Pretty rugged, but you do need to acquaint yourself with how to pull the shells out.
Thanks again for the reminder.
