Shotgun Transportation, Sling or Scabbard?

Hey all,

My main firearm is a Mossberg 500 12ga with an 18.5in barrel. I realize I need a way of grabbing it and carrying it more easily, if the need arises.

I was looking at the shotshell slings from CTD, and before we start that debate I know the sling is for carrying ammo and not direct reloading. I was wondering if any kind of swivel was needed for this type of rig as well?

On the other end of the spectrum is the scabbard. I thought this was an interesting option, I can use it as a scabbard or attach it to a bag. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=562602.

so any advice/recommendations/suggestions/experience is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

There's a big problem with the slings that carry ammo. In use, they swing and create a pendulum effect. I recommend a simple carry strap with QD studs.

OTOH, few folks use scabbards like that either.

What's the use environment?

The slings with the ammo loops always made me walk tilting to the right. :D

Only time I've ever seen those scabbards used are some of the ATVers around here, they're inexpensive and they just bungie strap them to their rides.

I use a sling for the long walk to and from the field or when using a 4 wheeler, but then I take it off for shooting once I get to where I'm gonig.
