Shotgun Stance

Just got a Mossy 590A1. Shot 25, 00 at the range. New to shotguns! Glock & Beretta man.
So.. I tried standing perpendiculatr with the target and the gun across my chest. My bicept is black & blue. Couldn't get it in my shoulder. Need advice. Don't think an isosceles stance would give me stability. Maybe a modified "weaver". Oh well, i'll be back! Thanks.

Same thing happened to me when I was new to shotguns. After that 1/2 case of loads, my arm was the color of my fishing jigs.

The best thing I can say is to practice throwing the stock up to your shoulder in the correct position as much as you can. Practice for 5 min a night if possible.

Good luck, and you might want to stick to 7 1/2 shot until you get it down pat!

Don't turn around, uh oh oh, der kommisar is in town, uh oh oh!

When I shoot, I use the HK doctrine stance.
Left foot slightly forward to the right, bend slightly at rib cage forward. Elbow tucked in and low. However, this stance is not for every weapon but works quite well.
