Shotgun scope

Hi all.
I'm wanting to put a scope on my Remington 870, after some research I've found a whole bunch of stuff and don't know what half of it is.
Does any one here use a scope on there shotgun? f so what do you recommend?
I don't want to spend millions (maybe under $150) but don't want rubbish either.

I'm just wanting something with minimal zoom range (something like 1-4, or 1-3),
Ive also seen red dot scopes, what the advantage of have one over a normal scope?

Thanks
Sam

If you get a scope, get one made for a shotgun or muzzleloader. They generally have a shorter parallax setting and a more generous eye relief than a centerfire rifle scope.

ive had a cheap tasco world class scope on my winchester 1300 12 ga for years and its held up fine for deer hunting. im sure theres better scopes out there for the intended purpose but for all the more money i have invested it served its purpose for the last 15 years.
