Hope this is the right place to post this!
I have seen shotguns carried (on Horseback) across the pommel but have never seen anyone shove a shotgun into a regular rifle scabbard.
Is is not Kosher to do so?
I am sure that there were horsemen who favored the Peppergun and would use one in liew of a rifle so shy don't you see a shotgun scabbard in Movies and documenteries> Even CAS shooters don't carry shotguns on Horseback, it's always a rifle.]
I figgure a horseman outfitted with a big bore revolver and a scattergun loaded with buckshot could defend himself pretty well within 100 yards...

Rifle and shotgun scabbards are dimensionally different, most rifles may work in a shotgun scabbard but not often do shotguns fit rifle scabbard.

I've used a couple different ones for shotgun....like the cordura models best.

I have the book Packing Iron and it suggests an across the pommel carry for the shotgun.
I suppose there weren't many who carried the shotgun as a primary weqapon like a rifle. It was more of a backup perhaps?
Nevertheless, I remove my question as litle historical info is available.
I like he idea of a Pump in modern daay cordura tho!
