Shotgun-safe 12 gauge flare rounds?

Does anyone know if there are 12 gauge flares that are guaranteed safe to use in a shotgun? It seems like a useful thing to have around.

Also, is there anywhere that I could get just a few bird bombs for relatively cheap? All the places I've looked at seem to want to sell them in large quantities.

Funny story I was at a gunsmiths the other day lookn at what he had for sale..some guy tried shooting a flare through his shotgun and the end of his barrel was all melted and deformed. I didnt ask much about it other then a good laugh..I think he might of tried shooting it through a 20 gage when it was ment for 12 but who knows I wasnt there and didnt get to much in to detail about it lol.

I had inquired in here last year on this subject

Apparently, as I was informed by many in here that know a lot more then I do about shotguns, it's quite doable assuming you have no choke at the end of the barrel, like my Mossberg Persuader doesn't have...then, they said, you should have no problems outside of some barrel cleaning after maybe. Of course I received a lot of lectures as I recall on fire hazards incurred with shooting off signal flares, like duh, I never thought of that?! *LOL*
I agree, not a bad thing to have in your survival kit-I plan on getting some, and no I don't want to buy a plastic flare gun, would only want maybe six flares to throw in the bandaolier.

I've shot countless signal flares through my 12ga guns in the last 20+ years(multitude of legal purposes). ..absolutely no problems.

I used to have one of them plastic barreled 12 gauge flare pistols and I shot the flares through my Mossberg with the 18.5" cylinder bore many times and had no issues other than a dirty cleaning session.

As for the bird bombs, it's best to buy them in quantity because buying them 3 at a time is rather expensive.
