Shotgun modification in New York State

Is it illegal to put a pistol grip on a shotgun in New York or anywhere in this country?

The way i read it, it appears a pistol grip could be considered an assault weapon. Look in Miscellaneous. Just ordered my steel side folding stock w/ pistol grip for the ole' 870. Should be here soon

upon re-reading, it depends where in NY you live, you might be able to get away with a pistol grip on a pump shotgun, no semi's

Upstate pistol grips are not a pproblem. However, NYC, and Nassu Co. are a diffrent story.

To the best of my recolection, as long as the overall length complys with Fed rules it is ok.. NYC being a different breed of cat. I live in upstate,so I am not familiar with the bastard part of the State.

OK in NYS.
Not OK in NYC.
Since I have seen them sold in Nassau county gunshops I must assume they are legal there.
PS...If you buy one make it a 20 guage.
