Shotgun length of pull

One way....bend arm at a 90 at elbow. Measure distance from inside of elbow joint to curled trigger finger.

Consider also....if pistol grip stock....fill in front of pistol grip so that he/she can more easily grip and reach trigger.

CR Sam spot on (as usual)

Another thought (I've done) , you didn't mention make/mod, is youth stock availible? What I did , couldn't find youth stock for an old 20ga 1100, let the shooter try some youth guns at gun shop, make notes, we found an old stock (disgarded) , keeping original so youngster can replace when bigger. We also 'scalloped' the stock to fit closer to shooter, being as this was a young lady, and anatomically , she was going through some changes. Her dad has added some spacers to lengthen since, but she's ashooter and when grown, that original stock with the pretty wood will be the ticket.

Don't forget to check the responses to your same question in Shotguns.

A biggie on the other thread is Dave McCs point about making sure the thumb/nose relationship is good. Rest of his post excellent too, of course.
