I don't know if any of the rest of you use a firearm for home defense, but I do. I've had a Ruger P90 .45 ACP for a while that has served that purpose up until this point (thankfully I've never had to use it save for the shooting range), but I'm leaning towards employing the 870 in that area now. I don't think anything beats a shotgun for home defense. I've read some articles that seem to indicate that #1 buck is a good choice because the pellets are heavy enough to give adequate penetration, yet small enough to avoid over-penetration, or penetration through nearby walls which could endanger innocent individuals. Anyone else have thoughts on use of shotgun for home defense? If you would, or do use a shotgun for home defense, what do you consider the ammo of choice?
