I just pcked up a sxs 12g from a military buddy of mine. He bought it in Turkey when he was stationed there. It's a Huglu and has double triggers. I really like it and it shoots good. It has fixed mod and full chokes. I know all about the Huglu shotguns but I do have one question. There are very few markings except serial# and makers marks. There is an 870 mark and a mark on one barrel is an 8 and the other is marked 89. There is no chamber length marking. I took the barrels off and slid a 2 3/4" shell in one and a 3" in the other. They both fit flush in the chamber. Does this mean it is truly a 3" chamber. My buddy said it was but I don't want to take any chances. Thanks.

this doesnt necessarily mean it can handle 3" shells. when a shell is measured its measured after the crimp is opened. so a 3" shell will easily slide into a 2 3/4" chamber, but if you shoot it it will build up alot more pressure because the plastic will be opened into the cone, and that can be very unsafe.
as for the way to find out what chamber length you have, im not sure. i looked online at a hunter safety site and it said if your not sure the best bet is to take it to a gunsmith and have him tell you.

If it isn't marked on the top of the barrel, pull the barrels off the gun and look on the flats. Modern guns will have the chamber marked somewhere, either in English lengths or metric (mm). 70 mm is 2-3/4, 76mm is 3"
If you are not sure, and can't find out from Huglu USA or their web site, then do NOT fire 3" shells until you know for sure.

My friend just bought a used 12gauge pump shotgun, the guy selling the gun said "it is a Remington 870 " he didn't even specify the year or what particular model it was.I"m beginner and my buddy knows even Less than me. So the question is that would anyone be able to help? The only markings on the receiver on the left side saying [ sportsman 12 pump magnum] and its barrel is not the original, so any answers are greatly appreciated.

Look at the serial number.After the numbers should be a letter.On 12 gauges, if the suffix is v, it's a 2 3/4" receiver. M means Magnum and is for 3" shells.
800-243-9700 is Remington's service line. Work through the phone tree and when a real person shows up, they will tell you when it was made and for what shells.
