Shotgun capacity / tube stoppers?

Howdy, all,
I bought my first shotgun a couple of months ago (a used 12ga. Mossberg 500.) The first time I took it apart, I noticed there was a wooden rod installed in the tube, which brought it down from 6 shells capacity to 2 or 3, and I'm trying to figure out if that's important for keeping legal. I'm in Clark County, Nevada, and I don't intend to hunt with it. I know better than to ask for legal advice on an internet forum ;) but any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlie

Typically, the "plug" is to limit the magazine capacity for specific hunting regulations. You may wish to check with your local authorities for any magazine restrictions for non-hunting guns in your area.

Most hunting requires no more than 3 rounds max (one in chamber, two in mag). If you are not going to hunt you can take it out.

If you don’t intend to use the gun for hunting, remove the plug to give yourself 6 rounds of protection.

Just keep the plug handy

Don't lose it.... you never know when the situation might arise where it 'looks' better if it were in at the time  and you havent lost it and can make everything look as it shoud :D

That plug only applies to the hunting of Federally controlled migratory birds - waterfowl, dove, and the like. If you're using it for HD, take it out, but keep it for when/if you sell the gun

Check Your State Laws

Generally the "three round total" in a shotgun only applies to hunting. My state includes in hunting with a shotgun; Big game mammals, small game mammals, resident and migratory upland birds or waterfowl.

During Ohio during the Deer Gun Season, you must use a shotgun capable of only holding 3 shells.
State laws regarding hunting regulations vary from state to state.

That's true, but the OP lives in NV, (I used to), so that concern, for HIM, does not apply - but you're right for those folks who hunt big game with shotguns

Thanks, guys. That's about what I figured. Unless beer cans get on the 'migratory bird' list sometime soon, I think I'm allright. :)

Chuk, I hope those beercans are just carcasses... otherwise it is wanton waste of party life... That is worse than a felony if you get caught by an officer of the "country club" shooting full beers... But them generic sodas are fair game and no limit...
